I was greeted kindly by Brandon, I think that was his name. The doctor was very kind and professional. She was very thorough and explained everything she was doing. She made it so I could understand everything when she went through what my exams showed. It was a good experience. Thank you

Very professional, respectful, and knowledgeable. They explained why I have dry, itchy eyes and recommended eye drops to help. Picking out my prescription glasses was quick and easy. Overall, a great experience.

It was an awkward experience. Dr. McLain did not even ask me why I had come to the eye clinic, and she would not respond to any of my questions when I queried my concerns about two particular issues: an eye infection in left eye, a painful spot in right eyelid. She did note that there were changes to my vision clarity, without my mentioning that my vision has recently blurred.
The exam was definitely less extensive than any I have had in the past - possibly because I normally go to an ophthalmologist. At the very end of the exam she gave me a stilted explanation of what she had found, and finally wrote a short note of care instructions, and then gave me necessary paperwork for the DMV license renewal I requested, printed prescription for new lenses; phoned Rx for antibiotics to pharmacy.
I doubt if I would return for another visit. The entire visit was out of order: I have never before visited a doc of any type who did not discuss the reasons that brought a patient in to be seen. Her seemingly upside down approach baffled me.

The Optometrist is not very proactive in drilling down her questions to help with finetuning prescriptions nor in offering information about what she is finding. I used to like going here when the past Optometrist was there, but not as much now. I think I'm going to find a new place for myself and my family to go to, even though this was convenient to go to and the front staff are very nice and helpful.
Frequently Asked Questions About Denver Eye Care Specialists
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. What is involved in an eye exam?
An eye exam involves a series of simple but comprehensive tests that allow your optometrist to assess your vision and your eye health. Your optometrist will discuss the results of your eye exam with you and determine the right prescription to help you to see your best.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients).
