10:00 AM. That’s the opening time YOU posted. I show up right on time and the store is locked with nobody in sight. I wait. 10:10. 10:20. Nothing. No sign, no apology, nothing. This isn’t the first time either. It’s a pattern. Whoever is supposed to open this store shows up whenever they feel like it, if they show up at all. While I stood there, I watched multiple customers pull up, try the door, and walk away. That’s real money walking straight to your competitors because your staff can’t be bothered to set an alarm. Is this store run by adults or by people who can’t manage to unlock a door on time? Get it together or close the location, because right now it’s just an embarrassment with a GNC sign on it.

This Tulare location is the closest GNC to me, and after what happened today, I’m seriously questioning why I would ever bother coming back. I arrived on Monday, August 10, 2026, at approximately 6:02 PM, and the employee, Jesse, had placed a piece of paper on the entrance saying “On break.” Okay. I understand employees need breaks, so I left to go to another store and decided to come back afterward. I actually started a timer when I left because I wanted to keep track of how long I should wait before coming back. A normal break is generally around 10–15 minutes, and even a lunch break is typically 30 minutes. I figured there was no reason to make a big deal about it. I came back 30 minutes later (6:32pm), and the exact same sign was still on the door. I waited an additional 27 MINUTES on top of that (until 6:57pm) before the employee finally came back and opened the door. That means I was waiting around for 57 MINUTES TOTAL while the store was supposed to be open. I even called the store several times and was sent to the automated voicemail. And it wasn’t just me. By the time he finally opened the door, multiple customers were standing at the entrance waiting to get inside, and they were visibly annoyed and frustrated as well. I also called the store multiple times while waiting, and nobody answered. Nearly an entire hour of customers’ time was wasted because one employee decided to leave the store unattended for an absurd amount of time with his “break”. I understand taking a break. What I don’t understand is leaving a business unattended for nearly an hour during operating hours (mind you the store closes at 8pm Mondays, and it was already 7pm) with nothing more than a handwritten “On break” sign on the door. If you know you’re going to be gone that long, there needs to be some sort of coverage. I wasted my gas, time, and evening driving to this location and waiting around just to get inside. The fact that several other customers were also standing outside looking frustrated when the employee finally returned says everything. Extremely unprofessional and completely unacceptable. GNC needs to address what is happening at this location because customers should not be expected to stand outside for nearly an hour just waiting for an employee to decide to reopen the store. Jesse, do better.

Every time I go in the sales associates know exactly what I need and they really know a lot about the products they're selling. There are constantly deals like buy one get one half off on protein. If you're into lifting and fitness I strongly encourage you to check this place out the next time you need some aminos or a new preworkout
