I booked a class for the Friday 7:30 PM Candlelight Yoga session at the Mission Bay studio during a promotional week, arriving early at 7:17 PM. Instead of being welcomed, it is my first time, I was subjected to the most unprofessional and hostile gatekeeping I have ever experienced in a fitness space.
The front desk associate (whose name starts with A) and the instructor (Phyu) spent over twenty minutes power-tripping over an identity check. I was aggressively told I could not take the class without physical ID, forcing me to dig through my personal items. I dropped my items from my purse on the floor to search my bags, the front desk clerk just walked around the desk and handed me a towel with zero assistance or empathy from the staff. I have patronized numerous elite studios (including Solidcore and other yoga boutique spaces) and have never been subjected to this level of scrutiny or hostility. The front desk staff then began aggressively gaslighting me about my own primary account email, defensively claiming it belonged to "someone else."
Due to their fabricated administrative delay, I was barred from entering the classroom until 7:50 PM, missing the first twenty minutes of a class I arrived early for. When I respectfully requested a brief tour of the space as a first-time guest, the instructor, Phyu, literally rolled her eyes and abandoned the desk. The front desk associate then aggressively gestured to the facility from her seat, rudely snapping, "Does that make sense?" twice with a mean mug. When I asked her to physically show me the layout, she slammed her hands on the desk in a blatant display of aggression before giving a rushed tour of a noticeably dirty facility. To top it off, she bizarrely told me "not to shower now because class started."
Post-class, the instructor Phyu completely ignored my presence, offered zero check-in regarding the terrible onboarding experience, and simply stared at me demanding the locker key back. This studio operates with a toxic, exclusionary clique mentality that is completely antithetical to the practice of yoga. They do not respect clients, they lack basic hospitality training, and the facility is unkempt.

So so instructors and I’d ask they have the doors unlocked 15 min prior to a class for you to arrive early vs waiting in the cold
