I'm San Diego born and raised. When I walked into the UFC Gym in San Diego, the man at the front desk didn't look up. Didn't acknowledge me. When my scan flagged an access issue and I tried to get more information, he was dismissive and condescending the entire time. He ever so condescendingly told me I didn't have access, that switching locations would cost $30, and that the full membership was $150, as if that was something someone such as myself could never afford. To be clear, the money was never the issue. Being spoken to like I'm lesser than is the issue.
Originally I signed up at the Huntington Beach location because I was traveling to OC for work frequently. I signed up for the full membership because compared to other gyms it's a better value, you get group fitness, a full gym, and a recovery area in one membership at a reasonable price.
Unfortunately, another red flag I ignored, and tried to forget…during sign-up, the rep asked if I was single and whether I needed my husband's permission to join.🤯 I realize we are rolling back women’s rights, but seriously!? 😒 my husband’s permission? To sign up for a gym???
Anyway, I was sick for an extended period and unable to work out. I called to downgrade to my insurance plan, which is free, and they required me to drive in, while sick, to sign paperwork in person. At no point did anyone tell me I would lose access to every location but one, the Huntington Beach one. I'm sure it was buried in the paperwork, but they still should have said something. If they had, maybe that San Diego interaction never would have happened.
I travel constantly for work and live in San Diego. Access to all locations was the whole point.
After these and other interactions it's clear. At UFC Gym, a woman is made to feel unwelcome, like she doesn't belong, like she doesn't have value, like she is lesser than. This isn't a bad day or a bad employee, it's a bad culture. UFC Gym should be embarrassed, and women considering joining should know. I will pay twice the cost to go to a gym that makes me feel welcome and doesn’t require me getting my “husbands” permission to sign up 🙄

My experience with UFC Gym has involved repeated professionalism issues, unreliable scheduling, and a complete lack of follow-through from both local management and corporate regarding a very reasonable refund request.
I joined specifically to train with one coach and purchased a 4-session personal training package. After only two sessions, that trainer left the company and I was never informed. I only found out when I tried to schedule. When I requested a refund for the unused sessions, I was told refunds were not possible and I would need to work with another trainer instead.
I made multiple good-faith attempts to use the remaining sessions. One session was canceled the morning of, another began about 20 minutes late, and the final session was missed because the trainer overslept. At that point I had done everything possible on my end to utilize services I had already paid for.
There was also an earlier incident where my paid training time was interrupted by staff arguing about scheduling matters, which showed a clear lack of professionalism.
I spoke with the fitness manager, who told me he would submit a request for a refund for the final unused session (about $50). A week passed with no response. I followed up myself and still have not received any response from either the gym or corporate.
What is most concerning is not just the scheduling failures, but the lack of accountability and communication afterward. I am not requesting a full refund, only reimbursement for one unused session after multiple service failures and missed appointments.
At this point, this feels less like a contractual issue and more like a customer service failure. When a business cannot reliably deliver services paid for, the reasonable expectation is a reasonable resolution.
I am documenting this experience because customers deserve professionalism, communication, and accountability. I am still hoping UFC Gym resolves this appropriately so further escalation will not be necessary.
Had a fantastic time at their grand opening! Everyone made me feel very welcomed and I had a great time training there. Definitely would recommend trying it out
I’ve been going to UFCfit for about a year now. Completely loved going back for my personal training with Coach Jason. It’s really encouraging to have someone know your goals, respect you and hold you accountable to your journey. I’ve honestly had a new outlook on my health and wellness since starting at UFC and working out with Coach Jason, and the progress has shown that.
Clean, Wide-Equipment Variety, Recovery Equipment
I've been doing personal training with Coach Jason for 8 months and going to this gym for over a year. Both experiences have been rewarding.
Coach Jason is a great coach for recovery and stability work. With his help I have built up my shoulder stability and regain my ability to squat comfortably.
The gym has a boxing room, yoga room, free weight area, machine area, and plenty of cardio options (sleds, tires, punching bags, stair master, skiing machines, rows, ellipticals, etc) and squat racks. The machines have new pads and the cleaning crew keeps the gym well kept. People put their weights back where they are supposed to go which is big plus if you have ever experience a gym with poor etiquette.
The turf room can get crowded at times due to boxing classes making it hard to find space to stretch.
