From an initial visit to routine shots, I've had a positive experience. I feel cared for and all my needs are met.

I called this allergist before switching my referral to their location confirming they take Tricare. If you have Tricare Prime you know how difficult it can be to deal with referrals. As soon as I switch my referral to them, they inform me that their fax machine is indefinitely down, so I e-mail the form to them. After receiving my e-mail, this office informs me they are no longer scheduling Tricare patients. They WASTED valuable time I could’ve used getting established with another provider that actually takes Tricare and is professional. When I expressed my confusion and disappointment, Leena told me “yeah just go somewhere else then”. I found this rude considering I asked about Tricare in advance and intended to be scheduled quickly to handle urgent allergy symptoms. Overall, I would not recommend this place to military families! We don’t get to choose where we live, and have limited options for covered providers. It’s extremely disappointing when providers bait and switch.

Unfortunately, our experience with Nurse Aldrin has been very disappointing. He struggles with English, which makes it difficult to get clear answers to important questions. His authorization process is extremely slow, and my mother frequently complains about the way he administers her shots, often leaving her uncomfortable and unhappy. In contrast, when Bibi or Steven give my mother her injections, she has no complaints at all. They are gentle, attentive, and clearly skilled at what they do. The difference in care is very noticeable. Lina at the front desk is always kind, professional, and helpful, which makes visits much smoother. My mother is also very happy with Dr. Sunil Perera as her long-term physician and feels comfortable and confident under his care. Overall, while some staff members provide excellent and compassionate service, Nurse Aldrin’s performance has been consistently poor and has negatively impacted our experience.

Dear Dr. Perera, I am writing to follow up on the authorization for nicola which has been pending for a month. Despite contacting your office three times and speaking with your nurse, Aldrin, I have not received a status update. There appear to be significant communication barriers and a lack of information regarding the authorization process when I speak with your nurse aldrin. Could you please look into this matter and provide an update on the current status of the authorization?

The front desk staff was always very kind - but the doctor I was not a fan of. I have MCAS and my allergic reactions can be quite severe with hives spread throughout my body and swelling of my throat and eyes, where the whites would “bubble” from scratching so much to where it was painful to blink and couldn’t sleep. I was never given an epi-pen and he refused to do shots because of the “maintenance”…which I didn’t understand. I’ve been struggling with this for five years now, I’d commit to whatever I need to in order to get my reactions under control. I kept advocating for it but he refused. Each follow up appointment he would just look back at my quest test results from 1-2 years ago, re-telling me what I’m allergic to, which at one point I got angry hearing the same thing a third time. In my own personal experience, he did not listen. I just got prick testing re-done at my new allergist at sutter and she is amazing, I’m so glad I found her. I now start shots tomorrow, got an epi-pen (god forbid), got my asthma completely under control. He did absolutely nothing for my asthma…not even testing (that I remember at least.) The only decent thing he did in the three years I was at the office was start me on cromolyn sodium. Which don’t get me wrong, I for sure seen an improvement in my breakouts with it, but not to the extent I was feeling comfortable with. I was on zyrtec and cromolyn while here, as well as some pre/probiotics. Now I’m on a higher dose of cromolyn, azelastine for my eye swelling and nose itching, probiotics, Zyrtec, advair 250/50, and spiriva as well as a rescue inhaler. Obviously tomorrow shots as well. My gut was telling me I was getting less than quality care here, which I ignored and put my trust in him because he’s the professional. I’ve struggled with other chronic health issues since I was 3, so the the energy to find yet another doctor was simply not there. Now, I’m so glad I bit the bullet and left. I can’t wait to finally start to feel better. Listen to your gut.
