I have been going to Childrens dental fun zone for over 7 years with my 2 kids and have never had this experience. My son went in for cavity fillings and 2 extractions. I believe the Dr did not wait enough time (30 seconds) after putting the numbing cream to distribute the local anesthesia. My son felt that and became upset immediately, mind you he gave the injection in 3 different spots on the top gum. I did ask the Dr, "shouldn't he not feel that", Dr just responded "he will just feel it a little". So from the start I was a little irritated. Cavity work was done then it was time for extractions. Both front teeth had to come out because he had trauma & again my son felt that and cried, yelled that it hurt. I get that he would feel some pain but I feel like this was more than just a little pain. In conclusion, I feel like the Dr was not compassionate & just wanted to be done with the procedure since I know they have more patients to work on. I am very upset and don't know if I will return with them after this experience. It was unprofessional & to top it off Dr just left the room didn't ask me any questions or after care instructions, which to me was very rude and unprofessional. I would advise parents to look into other "kid friendly" dentist offices & speak up when something doesn't feel right.

It was my twin girls first time at the dentist and everyone there was so nice and welcoming, for them being first time patients they gave them cute whale stuff animals, the girls loved the fish tank they had, and they loved that there were T.V's in all the rooms they went to. The doctors were so incredibly nice and made them fell comfortable. I highly recommend this place!

I would not recommend this pediatric dental office.
At my 2-year-old son’s appointment, the dentist told us he had a “cavity” and recommended a filling. Given my son’s age and the invasive nature of the procedure, I requested a copy of his records and X-rays on the day of his appointment (5/30) so that I could obtain a second opinion before proceeding.
According to the office’s own paperwork, records requests are supposed to be completed within 24–48 hours. It has now been 8 days, I have sent multiple emails and follow-up requests, and I have received no records and virtually no communication. To make matters worse, parents are charged $45 for copies of their child’s records.
I ultimately obtained a second opinion, and the pediatric dentist we consulted determined that my son did not have a cavity and did not require a filling. This makes the delay in releasing records even more concerning, as parents should have timely access to their child’s medical information when making decisions about treatment.
The combination of recommending unnecessary treatment, charging for records, delaying access to those records, and the office staff’s lack of accountability has left me extremely disappointed. Families deserve transparency, communication, and timely access to their child’s healthcare information.
Frequently Asked Questions About Children's Dental FunZone - Riverside
When should my child first visit the dentist?
We usually recommend scheduling your child's first pediatric dental visit as soon as their baby teeth begin to appear. This allows us to prevent any cavities from forming and talk with you about how to care for your child's teeth.
How often should my child visit the dentist?
We recommend that most children visit the dentist every six months. We may recommend coming in every three months if we discover your child is more prone to cavities.
When and how should I start cleaning my child's teeth?
You should start brushing your child's teeth as soon as they start to appear. Use a toothbrush and toothpaste your child likes and turn toothbrushing into a fun game! You can both take turns role-playing as a dentist, brushing the front, back, sides, and top of the teeth in a circular motion.
Why are baby teeth important?
The baby teeth serve as spacers for the adult teeth. Children who have severe damage to their baby teeth are more likely to damage their permanent teeth as well. Early loss of baby teeth may cause loss of space for permanent teeth, causing orthodontic problems later on.
What kind of toothbrush should kids use?
At Children's Dental FunZone, we recommend you get a soft-bristle brush with a small head for cleaning your infant's teeth. As your child grows, switch to a toothbrush with a slightly larger head.
When should children start flossing?
If there is little or no space between your child's teeth, this is usually a sign that you should be helping them floss. Flossing is less necessary if there is a lot of space between a child's teeth.
Are X-rays safe for children?
Yes! Today's X-ray technology uses only 25% of the radiation when compared to earlier generations. Therefore, dental X-rays are considered incredibly safe for your child. If you ever have any questions about your child's safety during their checkup, don't hesitate to ask.
What is the difference between a pediatric dentist and a family dentist?
Family dentists can provide excellent general care for patients of all ages, but our pediatric dentists specialize in assessing the needs of infants and children. We monitor kids to ensure healthy oral formation while also keeping them comfortable, safe, and at ease during their visit.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
The cost of orthodontic care can vary greatly, depending on the patient's needs. We can provide a personalized estimate during your child's appointment. Additionally, we can talk to you about financing and insurance assistance as needed.
Does insurance cover orthodontic treatment?
Some insurance policies will cover orthodontic care, at least partly, and some will not. It depends on your specific insurance, but we are always happy to talk with you about the best ways to maximize your reimbursement.
