.I purchased a pair of Meta Display smart glasses from LensCrafters after owning a pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses for approximately two years. I really liked my original pair, so I decided to spend over $1,000 on a new prescription pair with the display feature. Shortly after receiving them, I began experiencing frequent migraine headaches. I eventually realized the headaches coincided with sunlight hitting the display lens, which creates a bright reflection or prism-like glare directly in my field of vision. The glasses are simply not wearable for me because of this issue. Since I was beyond the standard 30-day return period, I called the LensCrafters store on Market Street in San Francisco. The employee I spoke with placed me on hold, then came back and assured me that the return would not be a problem because the issue was related to the migraines caused by the glasses. Based on that information, I drove nearly two hours to the store, spent additional time finding parking, and went inside expecting the return to be processed. Instead, within seconds, the assistant manager rudely told me they would not take the glasses back. He didn't ask any questions, look at my receipt, or show any interest in understanding the situation. When I asked to speak with the manager, he pointed to another employee standing nearby and said, "That's my manager." The manager simply looked at me, shrugged his shoulders, shook his head "no," and offered no explanation or assistance. It was one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've ever had. While standing in the store, I called LensCrafters customer service. The representative I spoke with was polite and helpful. She instructed me to complete a claim form and assured me that corporate would review the case, contact the store, and, if necessary, escalate it to upper management. I was told I would receive a response within about a week. Weeks went by without any update. After multiple phone calls and emails, I finally received a response stating that my request was denied and that I needed to work directly with the store. Ironically, that was exactly what I had already done before customer service instructed me to submit the corporate claim. In the end, both the store and corporate simply pointed me back to each other, and no one took responsibility for resolving the issue. Now I'm left with a pair of prescription glasses that cost over $1,000 and that I cannot wear because they trigger migraine headaches. For a company as large and well-known as LensCrafters, I expected far better customer service. Instead, I was met with poor communication, conflicting information, and employees who showed little interest in helping a customer with a legitimate problem. Because of this experience, I will never purchase another pair of glasses from LensCrafters, and I cannot recommend them to anyone else.

I’ve been needing new glasses and when I came Janice was really helpful and very kind! When entering she was very welcoming and also she let me know about the memorial sale, that was going on. I wasn’t sure on what frames I wanted and she was patient showing me various options I might choose. I ended up finding some frames that I really like!

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
