- AMArely MartinSep 29, 20261.0I’ve been a Passport member for over 6 years & was previously employed by & certified through Club Pilates, which made my experience with the management team at the Newport Beach studio particularly disappointing. I requested a medical freeze & explained that if a doctor’s note was required to waive the freeze fee, I could provide one after my scheduled doctor’s appointment. The studio initially confirmed that they could freeze my membership & that I could provide the doctor’s note at a later date. Despite that, I was charged a $35 freeze fee. When I questioned the charge, I was told that I needed to provide a doctor’s note. I then provided the requested documentation, yet the studio still refused to waive the fee. At that point, they stopped responding to my emails altogether. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I communicated to the studio that I was dealing with a new underlying medical diagnosis, a miscarriage, & the passing of a very close family member during this time. I understand that this is a business, but I expected a much higher level of communication, transparency, & basic customer service. Even more concerning, when I escalated the issue to Club Pilates corporate, I was told that my membership contract only permitted a $15 freeze fee—NOT the $35 fee I had been charged. I STRONGLY encourage current and prospective members to carefully review their membership contracts & to get any freeze requests, fees, & related policies in writing. After more than six years as a member in good standing, I expected considerably better transparency, communication, & accountability from this studio.
