I will be using another pharmacy from now on. I have been going to another Safeway in Los Gatos for several years I've had no issues there. I just moved to Martinez and I even got a new driver's license my proper address. However they refused to fill my medication because of the address and said that my Doctor had to resend the prescription with the new address. Doctor says he can't send a new prescription or it will lock me out of the system. So I was unable to get my pain meds pre-surgery. My doctor then called in My medication for after surgery 6 days ahead of time. They said they couldn't find it in the system first. Then they said they were missing a diagnosis code and started asking me a bunch of personal questions about my surgery. The Doctor was able to fix it on Saturday. They then question how the doctor can send in a prescription on the weekend when the office is closed. I have no idea where pharmacist would not know that they can just take the laptop home. I have had any prescription to issued on the weekend. They finally filled my prescription a few minutes before close it was unable to pick it up until 24 hours after my surgery. So they left me in pain before and after. This is unacceptable. Based on the other ratings tell that this is not the first time. Somebody from management really needs to step in and place the head pharmacist. I have been using Safeway pharmacies for many years including for pain meds and I have never been put through something like this by one before.

Rude pharmacy~! I had to transfer a prescription from mail order to Safeway pharmacy, and they questioned me in a very accusatory tone. I will NEVER send any prescriptions the the Safeway Pharmacy in Virginia Hills Shopping Center, Martinez, CA

would leave zero stars if i could. im leaving this review on behalf of my friend who wants to stay anonymous. we were trying to pick up medication in preparation for their invasive oral surgery and were hassled and berated for it. Shadi was rude, confrontational, and very accusatory and made my friend describe the surgery in detail and kept interrogating them about their other medications and why they could possibly need another one. i don’t even want to go back tomorrow to pick it up but he didn’t have it ready when we got there despite them having the prescription for days in advance. i definitely won’t be returning here after tomorrow and i strongly advise against this pharmacy if you have another option. i understand controlled substances need to be monitored but this was excessive and unnecessary.
