Face

In any personal or professional interaction, your face is the focus of attention during conversation. Your eyes, lips and expressions convey your emotions and help you communicate with those around you. When you feel good about the way you look, your inner beauty can shine through more easily, and you convey your confidence to the world. Our Facial Plastic Surgery Options The facial plastic surgeons at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery are passionate about providing results that are beautiful and natural-looking. More than other procedures, the results of facial surgery are not able to be hidden under clothing. Your face is your greeting to the world, and you shouldn’t trust in in the hands of just anyone. Our experienced plastic surgeons are all certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and have proved their capabilities through years of advanced training and testing in the field of plastic surgery. We are confident you are going to love the way you look. Our facial procedures are safe and effective. They include: Facelift: One of the most popular facial procedures, a facelift provides a youthful, invigorated appearance by tightening and lifting the skin and muscles in your face. Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty): Bags under your eyes and sagging eyelids can give you a tired, aged appearance. Eyelid surgery can lift your eyelids and give you a refreshed, invigorated appearance. Rhinoplasty: If you are unhappy with the size, shape or position of your nose, rhinoplasty can improve the appearance of your nose and in some cases, help you breathe easier. Neck lift: If you want to address a sagging, wrinkly neck, a neck lift can help restore a more youthful neck appearance. Brow lift: Minimize creases in your forehead and restore brow position with the popular brow lift procedure. Ear surgery (otoplasty): Large, overly prominent ears can be a source of embarrassment that many people have had to live with their entire lives. Otoplasty can dramatically reshape the structure of your ear and improve your confidence. Chin implants: A sharply defined chin plays a significant role in your overall facial appearance. We can help you achieve an attractive, prominent chin with safe, surgically-placed chin implants. Brow Lift Brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, can be used to: Eliminate horizontal lines and creases from the forehead Smooth the space in between the eyebrows Lift the brows into a more alert position Ideal for some patients on its own, brow lift is commonly combined with procedures such as facelift or blepharoplasty to produce a noticeably softer, less intense, and more youthful appearance. Brow Lift Los Altos CA If you are unhappy with the appearance of your forehead and would like more information about the brow lift procedure, please call Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery at 650-934-7020 to schedule your initial consultation. Forehead Lift Options There are two primary brow lift techniques: Corneal brow lift - the corneal brow lift requires an incision just behind the hairline, from ear to ear. This allows for maximum lift and the most noticeable results, making it best for people with pronounced creases and heavily sagging brows. Historically, this technique has been the most common. Endoscopic brow lift - the endoscopic brow lift is completed through several tiny incisions made just above the hairline. Using an endoscope and special surgical equipment, the brow and underlying tissue are gently lifted during this procedure to smooth skin and lift eyebrows. Small modifications can be made to either technique to allow for personal factors such as receding hairlines. During your initial consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons, we can discuss this in more detail to help you plan appropriately for your forehead lift. Brow Lift Candidates To be a good candidate for a brow lift, you will need to be in generally good health. This includes not smoking. If you are a smoker, you will be required to quit all nicotine products at least six weeks prior to surgery. Nicotine is a vascular constrictor; even smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes increase risks for delayed healing, infection, and thick, noticeable scars. In addition to being a nonsmoker in generally good health, ideal forehead lift candidates should be: Aware of all potential risks and complications Prepared to take time off to rest Able to take time from work, family, and social responsibilities Willing to follow all of our pre and post-operative instructions We will provide you with all of the information and tools needed to recover comfortably and safely. Failure to follow our directions increases risks for complications and may result in unsatisfactory results. The best candidates for any plastic surgery procedures are people who are willing to take all appropriate steps to protect their health and happiness before, during, and after their procedure. During your initial consultation at our Los Altos office, we will listen carefully to your concerns before fully assessing all of your problem areas. As we plan your procedure, we will also provide you with information on how to prepare, including how to make a comfortable space for recovery to help you make the most of your experience. Does a Brow Lift require anesthesia? Most brow lift procedures can be performed under local anesthesia and will not require general sedation. We offer different brow lift procedures, enabling us to customize each one – including the amount and type of anesthesia used – to help ensure each patient remains comfortable and safe during their procedure. How long does a Corneal Brow Lift procedure take? Measuring the correct proportion of eyebrows. Plastic surgery co Corneal brow lift requires an incision from ear to ear, just behind the hairline. Through this incision, underlying tissue can be lifted and skin can be smoothed to produce dramatic results. It typically takes between one to two hours to complete a corneal brow lift procedure. How long does an Endoscopic Brow Lift procedure take? Endoscopic brow lift surgery requires several small incisions be made just above the hairline. Through these, an endoscope is used to gently lift tissue and smooth the skin. Results from an endoscopic brow lift will not be as pronounced as a corneal brow lift, but the procedure is less invasive and requires a shorter recovery period. Operation time is, however, very similar to other brow lift procedures. The endoscopic brow lift technique usually takes around one to two hours to complete. What is the recovery process like for a Brow Lift procedure? There will be some swelling and bruising after forehead lift. These things will subside on their own over the course of two to three weeks. Some discomfort may be present during the initial recovery period. We will provide you with medications to help deal with any discomfort. Most people take ten to 14 days to recover at home before resuming non-strenuous undertakings. It may be four to six weeks before you are able to resume all normal activities. We will work with you during this time to make sure you are making the best decisions for optimal results.

Your eyelids can have a profound impact on your entire facial appearance. The elasticity and contour of your eyelids can affect whether you look sleepy or alert, angry or relaxed, old or young. Both age and heredity can play a role in the shape and proportion of your upper and lower lids. Eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, can restore the youthful appearance of your eyelids by removing excess, sagging skin and repositioning internal tissues. To learn more about eyelid surgery, please contact Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery today online or at 650-934-7020 to schedule a free consultation. We proudly serve the Silicon Valley and Bay Area, including Palo Alto, Mountain View, San Jose and San Francisco, California. What Is Blepharoplasty? Blepharoplasty is the medical term for eyelid surgery. An upper eye lift targets drooping upper eyelids, while lower eyelid surgery addresses unsightly bags beneath the eyes. Upper eyelifts not only provide a more aesthetically appealing result, they can also improve your vision if excess upper eyelid skin is interfering with your sight. Likewise, in addition to a younger look, lower eyelid surgery can also provide improvement or stability in the lower eyelid’s position. Depending on your unique goals and physical characteristics, these procedures can be performed separately or together. EYELID LIFT Los Altos CA Although every patient and procedure is inherently unique, the goals of eyelid surgery are consistent. With every blepharoplasty performed at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery, we strive for: A more vibrant and youthful appearance Natural-looking results Attractive symmetry Non-visible scars Long-lasting results As with every cosmetic facial procedure, it’s important to have realistic expectations. If you are in your 40s or 50s, eyelid surgery won’t make you look 25 again, but it will make you look like a more refreshed and youthful version of yourself. You should not expect complete eradication of eyelid wrinkles, but rather a softening. In order to ensure your continued ability to fully close your eyes after surgery, the excision of skin must be performed conservatively. Our highly-trained team of board-certified plastic surgeons employs a wealth of experience and artistic precision to provide results that are both beautiful and functional. Should I Consider Eyelift Surgery? If you are in generally good health and don’t smoke (or are willing to quit for a month before and after surgery), you may want to consider eyelid surgery if you experience: Drooping upper eyelid skin Large bags under your eyes Impaired vision because of droopy upper eyelids Puffy eyelids Procedures to Complement Your Blepharoplasty Results BLEPHAROPLASTY Los Altos CA During your free initial consultation with our experienced eyelid surgeons, each of your concerns will be discussed and all of your options will be thoroughly explained. Your safety and satisfaction are always paramount at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery. We will take the time to fully examine and assess your facial structure and candidacy to determine the best ways to achieve your aesthetic goals. Depending on your individual goals, your blepharoplasty may benefit from additional procedures and treatments such as: Brow lift: If a sagging brow contributes significantly to a droopy eyelid, a brow lift can help by lifting and reshaping the brow. BOTOX Cosmetic: If you have crow’s feet or vertical lines between your eyebrows, BOTOX treatment can help to smooth your skin and create an even more rejuvenated eye appearance. Dermal fillers: Darkened hollows beneath the eyes may be effectively addressed with certain dermal fillers to add volume. Can I Get Blepharoplasty if I’ve had LASIK? You can undergo blepharoplasty after LASIK, but will need to wait until you have healed. Once you have fully recovered from LASIK, it will not impact your candidacy for blepharoplasty. During your initial consultation, we will carefully evaluate your medical history to ensure blepharoplasty is a good fit for your needs. How Long Does the Blepharoplasty Procedure Take? Eyelid surgery may take one to two hours, depending on factors unique to your procedure and anatomy. The procedure will take longer when both upper and lower eyelids are corrected. The best way to learn how long your procedure may take is through a one-on-one consultation at our Los Altos office. What Kind of Anesthesia Is Used for Blepharoplasty? The anesthesia used during blepharoplasty depends on multiple factors unique to the individual being treated. Local anesthetic in combination with oral or IV sedation may be enough when blepharoplasty is performed on its own. When in combination with other procedures, deeper sedation or general anesthesia may be necessary. We care deeply about the safety and comfort of our patients. We will help you select the best type of anesthesia during the planning phase of your procedure.

Los Altos is a vibrant, active community where you’re likely to see people in their 70s running marathons. It’s easy to feel young living here. However, when some of our patients look into the mirror, they don’t see the person on the outside reflecting the youthful vigor they feel on the inside. The effects of aging, gravity and sun exposure can have a dramatic impact on your facial appearance and make you look tired, unhappy and older than you feel. The board-certified plastic surgeons at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery can help turn back the hands of time with facelift surgery. To learn more about facelifts and how the procedure can help you achieve a beautiful, natural-looking appearance, please call 650-934-7020 to schedule a free consultation. We proudly serve the Silicon Valley and Bay Area, including Palo Alto, Mountain View, San Jose and San Francisco, California. Facelift Los Altos CA What Is a Facelift? Technically known as rhytidectomy, a facelift is a safe and effective surgical procedure that can successfully address a variety facial signs of aging in a single procedure, by: Providing a more youthful, healthy and natural appearance Diminishing wrinkles and improving skin tone Improving the neck line, profile and jowls Reducing neck fullness Smoothing deep creases around the nose and mouth Restoring jaw line definition Everyone ages differently. Facelift surgeries at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery are customized procedures, designed specifically around your unique goals and individual characteristics. During your free initial consultation, you will meet personally with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who will work diligently to understand exactly what you’d like to accomplish with your face lift. No one wants to have a tight, “worked on” facial appearance. At Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery, our goal is always to provide you with results that appear fresh, natural and rejuvenated. Based on your discussion and facial features, you will be provided with a thorough explanation of all of your options and recommendations on what facial procedures and treatments can best help you accomplish your goals. Your Face Lift Consultation Undergoing facial plastic surgery isn’t like spending the day at a beauty salon; it’s a big decision. It’s important to meet personally with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and ask questions. During this initial consultation, our doctor will work to clearly understand your concerns and evaluate your bone structure, the areas of your face that have excess fat as well as the areas that are deficient in fat. Our doctor will assess the characteristics of your skin and determine which procedures can help you achieve your desired results. Depending on your goals and characteristics, you may benefit most from an upper, mid or lower facelift. Our surgeon may recommend additional procedures that will enhance your facelift, such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery. Determining candidacy for face surgery is another element of the consultation process. Generally speaking, the best candidates for the face lift procedure are men and women who desire a tighter, more youthful appearance and have loose or sagging skin in the face or neck area. Additionally, good candidates are: Non-smokers In generally good physical and emotional health Have realistic expectations of what a facelift can and cannot accomplish Able to take time off from work and strenuous activity to recover Willing to follow all pre and post-operative instructions provided by our surgeons We understand what a deeply personal decision it is to choose facial surgery. We respect the importance of this decision and will never pressure you or rush you into making a decision. We will present you with a variety of choices but it is always ultimately up to you to decide which treatments and procedures best suit your needs and lifestyle.

Breast

Breast augmentation can enhance or restore your overall appearance, helping you reveal the vivacious, youthful, voluptuous woman within you. Using breast implants to improve the appearance of your breasts, breast augmentation is a popular surgical procedure that can: Increase breast size Correct breast asymmetry Provide more attractive cleavage Restore lost volume Correct mild sagging Improve the shape of your breasts Increase the firmness of your breasts After breast augmentation surgery, you may also enjoy new wardrobe options and feel more confident and beautiful when wearing lingerie or a bathing suit. If you live in or around Los Altos, California and are considering breast augmentation, we welcome an opportunity to meet with you, listen to your desires, discuss your breast surgery options, and help you find the best solution. Call us at 650-934-7020 to schedule your consultation today. Types of Breast Implants We offer both saline and silicone breast implants. Saline breast implants are filled after they have been placed, which may allow for a smaller incision and can help reduce recovery time. Filling implants after placement also allows for last-minute volume adjustments that can help produce optimal symmetry. However, saline breast implants may not look or feel as natural as silicone breast implants, especially when placed above the muscles of the chest. Silicone breast implants are pre-filled and may require a larger incision to place. However, silicone implants tend to look and feel more like natural breast tissue. This is particularly true of the “gummy bear” or form-stable option, which is designed to mimic breast tissue almost perfectly. While there are different varieties of each, both types of implants can provide beautiful results and achieve an outcome that is natural-looking and proportionate to your frame. During your initial consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will explain the pros and cons of each type of implant to help you choose an option that is best suited for your goals and lifestyle. Breast Implant Options Breast implants may be: Textured or smooth. Textured implants stay fixed in place. Smooth implants are able to rotate within the implant pocket Rounded or teardrop. Rounded implants are circular. Teardrop implants are tapered at the top to more closely resemble natural breast shape Whether you want a completely natural look or a more enhanced appearance, the size and profile of your implants play a significant role in achieving your desired outcome. To help you choose the breast implant that best suits your goals and frame, we will explain all of your options and help you visualize your outcome in advance through a state-of-the-art 3D imaging system. Breast Implant Incision Options The three common incision locations for breast augmentation are: Inframammary. Under your breasts Areolar. Around your nipple Transaxillary. In your armpit The size of the incisions required for breast implant placement will be dependent on several factors unique to your augmentation procedure and anatomy. Our plastic surgeons take great care to place incisions in inconspicuous locations where, with proper care, they will fade to all but invisible with time. There are certain advantages offered by each incision placement option, making different selections best for different women. During your time in our care, we will work directly with you, holding your wishes as our primary goal and suggesting those options, like incision location, that will best produce the look you deserve. Breast Implant Placement Options There are two primary breast implant placement options: Subglandular. Below breast tissue but above chest muscles Submuscular. Below both breast tissue and chest muscles A third option, dual plane, places the upper and mid portions of the implant below chest muscles but leave the lower part covered only by breast tissue. Subglandular breast implant placement may be a good fit for women with sufficient breast tissue to cover the implant. This option may decrease surgical and recovery time slightly as well because there is no impact on muscles. The tradeoff can be significant, though, as subglandular placement is more likely to result in aesthetic complications like "double bubble," implant sagging, and visible edges.

If you’d like to improve the contour, position or overall appearance of your breasts, a breast lift, also known as mastopexy, may be your ideal solution. Breast lifts are commonly recommended when a patient’s breasts have lost their youthful elasticity as the result of age, genetics, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations. You may consider a breast lift if you experience: Sagging, elongated breasts Fallen nipple position Enlarged areolas Deflated, flattened breast appearance Breast lift surgery can produce a firmer and perkier appearance to your breasts while harmonizing your chest with the rest of your frame. If you live in the Los Altos area and are unhappy with the position of your breasts, our board-certified plastic surgeons can help. Call us at 650-934-7020 to schedule your consultation and learn more. Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery welcomes patients from Santa Clara, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, and all surrounding areas of California. Breast Lift Incision Options Breast Lift with Implants Good Breast Lift Candidates Recovery from Breast Lift Financing Breast Lift Surgery Contact Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery Breast Lift Incision Options The type of incision that will be required for your breast lift surgery will be dependent upon the characteristics of your breasts. There are a number of incision techniques that can be implemented to achieve a perkier, more appealing look, including: Circumareolar: Also known as a Benelli incision, this method is the least invasive option and leaves a less conspicuous scar. For this approach, circular incisions are made around the areola. Excess skin is removed and the remaining tissue is lifted over the breast mound Lollipop: In addition to the incision made around the areola, a vertical incision is made which extends to the crease of the breast. This method is ideal for women who experience moderate sagging Anchor: This incision involves the basic elements of a lollipop incision, with the addition of horizontal incisions along the breast crease. This option produces the most dramatic results and is ideal for women with larger breasts and significant sagging. The ideal incision method for your mastopexy will depend on your goals and anatomical features. Our skilled breast surgeons will tailor your procedure to compliment your unique attributes and expectations to deliver the most attractive results possible. Breast Lift with Augmentation Many of the factors that contribute to sagging breasts can also cause a loss of symmetry and volume, but breast lift is not designed to enhance size. On the other hand, achieving fuller breasts through breast augmentation will not address the sagging issues mastopexy corrects. Breast lift with implants combines the benefits of augmentation and mastopexy to address a more comprehensive range of issues. With this combination, our plastic surgeons can: Restore lost volume Produce ideal symmetry Create harmony between the breasts and upper body Improve the overall shape and projection of the breasts Adding breast implants during breast lift surgery is a particularly effective approach to creating a stunningly beautiful appearance and is often completed as part of a comprehensive mommy makeover. At Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery, your breast lift procedure will be customized for your frame. If larger breasts would complement your body, we can discuss this option in addition to lift during your initial consultation.

Many men experience a condition called gynecomastia, or excessive breast tissue. It is a common condition and can be a source of embarrassment or self-consciousness for many men. If you feel reluctant to take off your shirt when at the beach or the pool or during romantic situations, the board-certified plastic surgeons at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery can help you achieve the masculine appearance you desire with male breast reduction surgery. To learn more about gynecomastia and your candidacy for male breast reduction surgery, please contact us today online or at 650-934-7020 to schedule a free consultation. We welcome patients from the Silicon Valley and Bay Area, including Palo Alto, Mountain View, San Jose and San Francisco, California. Schedule a Consultation Today Gynecomastia Los Altos CA What Causes Gynecomastia? Many times, gynecomastia begins during puberty. Fortunately, some men who develop the condition around this developmental time find that the condition resolves itself naturally as they enter adulthood and never need surgery. However, this is not the case for everyone, and many men live with excessive breast tissue into adulthood. Other possible causes of gynecomastia include: Liver disease Graves' disease Hyperthyroidism Estrogen-producing tumors Dietary supplements Anabolic steroid use Certain prescription medications Obesity Hormone fluctuations If you are experiencing one of the potential causes listed above, you should consult your doctor to ensure your condition isn’t the result of one of these issues. Treating one of these conditions or discontinuing the use of certain medications could cause your gynecomastia to diminish. Am I a Candidate for Gynecomastia Surgery? Gynecomastia surgery is safe and effective, and most men with excess breast tissue are good candidates for the procedure. Men with firm, elastic skin usually experience the best results. If you are overweight, it is best to get near your ideal weight before surgery through exercise and a healthy diet. If you reach your target weight and are still unhappy with the appearance of your chest, you should schedule a free consultation at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery to determine your candidacy. Generally speaking, in addition to being near your ideal weight, good male breast reduction candidates: Are in good overall health Don’t smoke, or are willing to quit before surgery and throughout the recovery process Have realistic expectations for their results The best way to find out if this procedure is right for you is to meet personally with one of our gynecomastia surgeons. Consultations are free and completely confidential. We will assess your physical condition and explain all of your options. You will never be pressured or rushed into making any decisions about your treatment. We will work to understand your goals and explain all of your options. Does Gynecomastia Go Away on Its Own? Gynecomastia is most common during adolescence. In these cases, the condition may self-correct. In adulthood, it can be much more difficult to get gynecomastia to respond to lifestyle changes like diet and exercise, often making male breast reduction surgery the most effective option. How Long Does Gynecomastia Surgery Take? There are factors that make each procedure different, but gynecomastia surgery typically takes around one to two hours. It may take more time in some cases. This is dependent on factors unique to the individual such as how much tissue is being removed, the type of tissue present, and more. The best way to get a clear idea of how long you can expect your male breast reduction procedure to take is through a one-on-one consultation with one of the board-certified plastic surgeons at Altos Oaks. Can Breast Tissue Grow Back After Gynecomastia Surgery? Once glandular tissue and excess fat have been removed from the chest, they cannot “grow back.” In this way, gynecomastia surgery is permanent. However, hormone and weight fluctuations can allow new tissue to develop, undoing your male breast reduction results. You can help maintain your results by: Eating a well-balanced diet Getting plenty of exercise Avoiding tobacco and alcohol Avoiding marijuana and sedatives Avoiding anabolic steroids Some medications may also increase your risk of developing gynecomastia. Ceasing these medications may be necessary to prevent a re-accumulation of fat or tissue in the chest. We will review the herbs, supplements, and medications you currently take to help you determine if any of them may interfere with the long-term success of your male breast reduction procedure.

Read More About Body Contouring in Our Blog The Importance of Board Certification When Choosing a Plastic Surgeon Following medical school, doctors can choose a specialty of interest, such as plastic surgery. While physicians in specialties other than plastic surgery can and do perform cosmetic treatments, the doctors most qualified to perform plastic surgery are board-certified plastic surgeons. There are not any regulations preventing physicians who aren’t plastic surgeons from advertising themselves as cosmetic surgeons after taking courses that may only last a few days or just a few hours. Certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) signifies that a physician has undergone a minimum of five years of approved surgical training, which includes a plastic surgery residency. In addition, the doctor must pass extensive written and oral exams specific to plastic surgery. Every surgeon at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Following childbirth, your body will naturally begin to return to its pre-pregnancy shape, but many women find that their bodies don’t make a complete return. A mommy makeover utilizes a variety of procedures and treatments to help restore your body’s pre-pregnancy contours. Common issues that mommy makeovers address include: Deposits of excess fat Stretched or separated abdominal muscles Protruding abdominal fat and skin Loose skin Stretch marks Sagging, elongated breasts Loss of breast firmness Deflated, misshapen breasts Breast asymmetry Stretched vaginal tissue A mommy makeover isn’t just one procedure. It involves a number of procedures combined to achieve the trim, toned body contour you desire. These procedures may be performed simultaneously or over time. Back to the Top Procedures in a Mommy Makeover Your mommy makeover is a completely customized combination of procedures which is designed just for you. During your free initial consultation, you will meet personally with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons and discuss your goals, concerns and expectations. Depending on your unique needs and characteristics, your mommy makeover may include any of the procedures listed below: Tummy Tuck Tummy tucks are often one of the first procedures our mommy makeover patients want to discuss. Childbearing can have a tremendous impact on your abdomen. After you’ve welcomed your new child into the world, you may find that you are left with excess fat deposits, loose skin, and abdominal muscles that don’t seem to respond to proper diet and exercise. During pregnancy, you may experience a separation of abdominal muscles as the baby grows outward. For many women, surgery is the only effective option for repairing this muscle damage. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and the separated muscles are rejoined. Liposuction While not a weight loss technique, liposuction can help you achieve a trim, attractive body contour by removing unwanted fat deposits from the abdomen, back or thighs. Liposuction is often performed in conjunction with a tummy tuck to achieve a more dramatic transformation in the abdominal region. Breast Augmentation The effects of child birth and nursing may leave you with breasts that have lost volume and size. Breast augmentation is the most popular breast surgery procedure today, and can give you the full, natural-looking breasts you desire and the renewed confidence you deserve. Breast augmentation provides you with a number of choices to achieve the look you want. You may want to regain the breast shape you enjoyed before the birth of your child, or you may choose to enlarge your breasts to match the fuller appearance that pregnancy and breastfeeding gave you. Our talented and experienced breast surgeons will discuss your goals and all of your options during your free initial consultation. Some of the topics you will discuss may involve: The type of implant you’d like, such as silicone or saline Incision placement options Implant placement location Breast Lift Breast lifts are popular surgical procedures that can lift and restore the youthful appearance of your breasts. Following childbirth, many women are left with breasts that sag or droop due to a loss of breast tissue and skin elasticity. In many cases, patients choose to combine a breast lift with breast augmentation surgery to achieve optimal results. Breast Reduction Although there is typically a natural reduction in breast size that leaves women with sagging, empty-looking breasts, some women find that their breasts remain larger than desired following child birth. In these cases, breast reduction surgery may be an ideal solution.

During your procedure, one of our experienced tummy tuck surgeons will create a flatter, tighter stomach area by: Removing excess fat from your abdominal area Tightening stretched or loose abdominal muscles Tightening or removing hanging, excess skin Re-draping remaining skin At Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery, we never take a one-size-fits-all approach to any procedure. There are many ways why you may notice changes to your midsection, from weight fluctuations to just getting older. Our bodies attempt to store excess fat cells where they can be retrieved and metabolized as quickly as possible. This usually occurs around the torso. A good diet and healthy exercises routine can help, but it’s not always enough. If you are near your ideal weight but still unhappy with the appearance of your midsection, a tummy tuck can provide you with a number of potential benefits, including: Slimmer, more toned appearance in the abdominal region Eradication of loose, hanging skin that frequently accompanies recent weight loss or childbirth Tighter abdominal muscles Diminished appearance of stretch marks in the stomach region Improved self-confidence Mini Tummy Tuck The mini tummy tuck solely addresses the part of the midsection below the belly button. It is a less-invasive procedure than a full tummy tuck and provides subtler results. It is ideal for healthy patients who can’t get rid of their “belly pooch.” During a mini tummy tuck, your surgeon will: Make a small horizontal incision beneath the belly button Remove excess skin Tighten abdominal muscles Close the incision Because of the less-invasive techniques involved in mini abdominoplasty, most patients are able to fully recover in less than a week. Back to the Top Full Tummy Tuck If you want to flatten the abdominal area both above and below the belly button, a full tummy tuck may be your ideal solution. During a full tummy tuck, your surgeon will: Make a horizontal incision between the hips and around the belly button (umbilicus) Remove excess skin and tissue Pull remaining muscle and skin tightly over the stomach Reposition the belly button Close the incision Full tummy tucks are intended for patients who have an excessive amount of skin around the midsection and weakening abdominal muscles. Incisions are always made as small as possible. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and patients typically need about two-weeks to recover from the procedure before fully getting back to their regular activities.

The best way to deal with unwanted fat, whether due to sudden weight gain or a lifetime of struggles with stubborn fat deposits, is through proper nutrition and exercise. However, many people find that despite a commitment to a healthy diet and exercise routine, stubborn pockets of fat undermine their efforts and don’t go away. Why Choose Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery for Your Liposuction? How Much Does Liposuction Cost? Schedule Your Free Liposuction Consultation Today What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated with Liposuction? Liposuction Palo Alto CA One of the reasons why liposuction is among the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the United States is due to its remarkable versatility. Liposuction can be performed nearly anywhere on your body, including your: Abdomen Thighs Hips Buttocks Love handles Back Flanks Knees Arms Neck Chin Chest (gynecomastia treatment) What Is Tumescent Liposuction? Tumescent liposuction is an effective body contouring technique that uses tumescent fluid. Tumescent fluid is a special formulation that causes the fat cells in the targeted area to grow firm and swollen, making it easier to break apart fat and remove it through a small cannula (tube). Tumescent fluid is made of: Saline: sterile salt water Epinephrine: to reduce bleeding and bruising complications Lidocaine: to eliminate or greatly reduce discomfort The lidocaine in tumescent fluid remains active in your body for approximately 24 hours, helping to combat discomfort well after the procedure has been performed. Over-the-counter pain relievers are effective at managing discomfort once the effects of the lidocaine have worn off. Tumescent liposuction is an outpatient surgery, so you should be able to return home shortly after the completion of your procedure. Although every patient heals at his or her own pace, you should be able to return to work after just a few days of recuperation at home. Avoid most types of strenuous activity and exercise, except walking, for about a week after your surgery. The tumescent technique is one of the most popular and effective ways to remove unwanted fat, but it is not a treatment for obesity and should not be used as a replacement for a healthy diet and exercise. During your free initial consultation at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery, you will meet personally with a board-certified plastic surgeon who will listen to your goals, evaluate your physical condition and liposuction candidacy and explain all of your cosmetic options. What Is Power-Assisted Liposuction? With power-assisted liposuction, the cannula or tube used to remove fat from targeted areas contains a vibrating tip which helps to further break up fat so that it can be more easily suctioned out. This technique usually results in a quicker procedure and leads to more successful removal of fatty tissue from certain areas. How Should I Prepare For Liposuction Surgery? While there are a variety of liposuction techniques, there are some general guidelines to keep in mind when preparing for your procedure: Follow your surgeon’s instructions Set realistic expectations Stop smoking Avoid blood-thinning substances such as alcohol and certain medications Depending on the type of liposuction you choose to undergo, you will be provided with detailed pre- and postoperative instructions on how to get ready for your surgery and manage the recovery process once it has been completed. It is important to follow all instructions given to you by your liposuction surgeon to ensure you experience the best recovery and results possible. Liposuction vs. Tummy Tuck Liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) procedures can both improve the appearance of your midsection and overall body contours, but they are performed for different reasons. Abdominoplasty is performed to remove excess skin around the abdominal region and tighten underlying muscles in the abdomen. Tummy tucks are often ideal for patients who have recently lost a significant amount of weight or completed a pregnancy. Liposuction, on the other hand, is ideally suited for patients with good muscle tone and no excess skin who want to eliminate small pockets of stubborn fat.

BOTOX is the most popular cosmetic injectable skin treatment in the United States. It is a derivative of botulinum type A, a bacterium-produced neuromuscular toxin which affects the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. By temporarily blocking the nerve signals to these muscles, it can create a smoother, more refreshed and youthful appearance. BOTOX Cosmetic has been approved by the FDA to treat glabella lines, or the frown lines between the eyebrows, and can also help to temporarily address the appearance of: Brow lines Crow’s feet Smile lines Is BOTOX Right for Me? BOTOX Cosmetic is an effective skin rejuvenation treatment for almost everyone. But, like any cosmetic procedure, it’s important to meet certain requirements to ensure the success and safety of your treatment. Generally speaking, you may be a good candidate for BOTOX injections if you: Are at least 18 years old Are free of BOTOX Cosmetic allergies Have good facial muscle strength Have good facial symmetry Are free of facial scars or pre-existing skin conditions

Radiesse is a great way to achieve a refreshed appearance and can help temporarily reduce or eliminate: Facial wrinkles Pre-jowl folds Chin wrinkles Lines on the corners of the mouth Marionette lines Smile lines Sculptra® Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic-based injectable dermal filler that diminishes facial wrinkles by increasing volume in the skin. Unlike Juvederm and Restylane, which deliver volume through hyaluronic acid, Sculptra doesn’t provide immediate volume. Instead, it stimulates the production of collagen, producing results that emerge gradually, over a period of weeks and months rather than a matter of days. As your results slowly appear, your skin will look more smooth and youthful and no one will recognize you’ve had treatment. Sculptra is commonly used to improve the appearance of: Smile lines (nasolabial folds) Volume loss throughout the face Other facial wrinkles and lines One of the big advantages of using Sculptra is its long-lasting results. Many patients enjoy a fresher, more youthful appearance for as long as two years after treatment. Fat Transfer At Altos Oaks, we can use your own fat to add volume and produce a softer and more youthful appearance. With fat transfer, fat that has been harvested from a donor site on your body is carefully processed and reinjected into specifically targeted areas of the face to address signs of aging such a hollow cheeks, sagging jowls, and lines and wrinkles. Using material taken from your own body, fat transfer can be used to: Correct facial wrinkles, folds and laugh lines Increase size and contour of cheekbones Increase lip size Fill in acne scars Fat is harvested from your own body by liposuction from the abdominal, thigh or buttock area. It is then cleaned and treated before being injected into the face.

Aging, sun exposure, and acne can all have a negative effect on your skin, creating scarring, dark spots, fine lines, and uneven skin texture. On the bright side, there are plenty of options to help your skin feel fresh, tight, and youthful again. One popular solution is chemical peels. Chemical peels are acidic treatments that remove the outer layers of damaged skin, revealing bright, healthy skin underneath. If you'd like to achieve smoother, younger-looking skin, a chemical peel at Altos Oaks Plastic Surgery may be an ideal option for you. We offer a full range of options to meet every need, whether you need a light, moderate or deep peel. What Is a Chemical Peel? Chemical peels are skin care treatments that remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to achieve a healthy, youthful appearance. A chemical peel can remove blemishes and provide a smooth skin texture. Aesthetic needs and skin quality varies from person to person, so every skin peel is customized to meet the patient's unique needs. What Are the Types of Chemical Peels to Choose From? Chemical peels range in depth, from superficial to deep. Our Salicylic acid options from Jan Marini's Marini Peel System are the lightest peel and only target the outermost layer of skin. A glycolic acid peel, on the other hand, penetrates deep into the skin at the reticular dermis layer. The trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel falls in the middle, which achieves a medium depth. The depth of your peel decides how severe the peel will be. The deeper the peel, the more significant the results and the more downtime you will have, as your face will be recovering for longer with a deeper peel. Our skin care specialists will work with you to determine which treatment best suits your needs, lifestyle, and skin type. What Issues Does a Chemical Peel Address? Our safe and effective chemical peel options are designed to address skin issues such as: Wrinkles Uneven pigmentation Sunspots Rough or dry skin Age spots Acne If any of these conditions are making you feel insecure or uncomfortable, you don't have to continue to feel this way. Chemical peels are a minimally invasive, inexpensive treatment to make you love your skin again. What to Expect from Your Chemical Peel Chemical peels usually require between 30-45 minutes depending on the type of peel you need. During a typical chemical peel session: Step 1: A peel that is best for your skin and particular condition will be chosen. Step 2: Your skin will be thoroughly cleaned. Step 3: The peel will be applied. Step 4: You may experience a brief stinging sensation before the solution is neutralized and rinsed off. After treatment, it is important to keep your skin moisturized and protected. Use a nice moisturizer or healing ointment, such as Aquaphor, and wear sunscreen daily. The new skin is more susceptible to damage and sunburns. Plus, protecting your skin will make your results last longer and prevent the skin issues that brought you in the first place. Who Is the Best Candidate for a Chemical Peel? You are likely a good candidate for a chemical peel if you are generally healthy. It's important to share your medical history with our specialists to ensure your candidacy. Ideal candidates for chemical peels typically have superficial skin conditions, like minor blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles, and other issues. The best way to determine if a chemical peel is right for you is to visit our office and meet personally with a specialist. We will discuss your goals, assess your skin, and explain all of your options. Discuss Your Chemical Peel Today We strive to provide cosmetic surgery with a conscience. How long your recovery takes depends on your body’s natural healing response, the type of treatment performed, the issues being corrected, and the care you take of your skin post-treatment. We will provide detailed aftercare instructions to help ensure your brief recovery period is as comfortable as possible. Will I Need More Than One Treatment? had a horrible experience after their surgeon, john talley, severely botched my septorhinoplasty. i was left disfigured and in urgent need of a full reconstruction on my face. the practice offered no continuity of care or apology, gladly retained the entire fee, and left me with a lifetime of breathing and cosmetic complications that have come with extraordinary cost. i recommend you be weary of this practice.
