As a new patient, I was impressed from the very first phone call. The scheduling process was easy, and everyone I spoke with was kind, thorough, and helpful. When I walked into the office, I immediately noticed the beautiful views, high ceilings, and how clean the office was. My first thought when I saw the high ceilings was how amazing this office must look at Christmastime! It’s so big and welcoming!
The staff greeted me warmly and made me feel comfortable right away. The front office team made the check-in process simple and they were professional. Once I was taken back, everything was cleaned in front of me, which I really appreciated, and the staff continued to be friendly and attentive throughout my visit.
Dr. Tanya was absolutely wonderful!! She was kind, knowledgeable and incredibly thorough. She made me feel comfortable and cared for throughout my exam, and I never felt rushed.
Mike, the office manager, was also fantastic!! He was friendly and professional, went over the pricing with me, and helped me choose a pair of glasses. It was a fun experience he made very easy and enjoyable.
Healthcare can already be a challenging experience, so it meant a lot to feel respected, welcomed, and truly cared for from beginning to end. I am so grateful I chose Grass Valley Eye Care and could not recommend them more highly.

My eye exam went very well. But I received bad customer service. It took over a month to receive my glasses. Then I received the wrong frames. I was told this is what I ordered. If I had wanted the same pair I was wearing I would've order them!! I wanted something different so the frame I placed on the counter aren't the one I recieved. Don't like the fact that I was treated like I don't know what I picked out.
Don’t go here, if you can avoid it. My wife and I both were there today; with our two middle kids who both need new glasses.
We were there at two separate times of day; that’s just how the appointments worked out.
BOTH visits went about like so:
The front desk staff is among the unfriendliest one could imagine. They seemingly have no qualms with being super rude and snarky to you, right in front of your kids, as if they’re not even there.
With the two appointments combined, our takeaway was this:
The staff made our experience beyond awkward, and made us feel like such an inconvenience, scoffing at every question we had and just being generally grumpy…that we came home, and IMMEDIATELY switched to a different eye doctor—much farther away (but with a VERY FRIENDLY receptionist, and good reviews).
It was that bad. Like “never again” bad. The front desk staff were blatantly unkind, aloof and unprofessional—no “people skills.”
Seriously, I’d give 0 stars if i could, because when we arrived just a FEW minutes—like 5 or 6 minutes—past my son’s first appointment time, they hemmed and hawwed over our insurance for about another 10 minutes, then simply CANCELLED our appointment and told me to come back tomorrow. Literally, just ate up time, then told us we’d make the whole day run late…and sent us packing. We never saw a Doctor. A 25 min drive to town for…nothing.
Maybe the Doc is fantastic, but we’ll never know.
Just be nicer, GV Eyecare. Mean people suck.
