- NLNes LeeSep 25, 20261.0It was very expensive just to have an eye exam and get lenses. I brought my own frames, so I was surprised by the total cost. The person who assisted me with the eye exam told me there would be a $39 charge for the retinal check, but when I went to the front desk, I was asked to pay $49 instead. My insurance paid $201, and I still had to pay $264 out of pocket. I was not given an itemized breakdown of the charges. I was simply asked for my card, it was charged, and I was given a receipt. I didn’t ask for anything extra; I just wanted to get my eye exam and lenses done. I also heard the doctor say that there wasn’t a significant difference or change from my eye exam two years ago. I was honestly surprised by how expensive it was, especially since I brought my own frames. I would appreciate more transparency about the charges and what is included in the total cost.

- JLJenny LynnAug 17, 20265.0Honestly, I had the best exam with Dr. Tang! He is very thorough, listens to his patients and was able to answer questions that I have not been able to get answers on from a few different optometrists. If only every eye doctor was like him, what a better world we would be living in! Thank you Dr. Tang and Team, what a wonderful experience.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tang Optometry
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What is involved in an eye exam?
An eye exam involves a series of simple but comprehensive tests that allow your optometrist to assess your vision and your eye health. Your optometrist will discuss the results of your eye exam with you and determine the right prescription to help you to see your best.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
