First time trying Pilates and I really enjoyed it! 💕 The studio was clean and welcoming, and the instructor was friendly and helpful with my form. Definitely a great workout for building core strength, balance, and flexibility. Can’t wait for my next class! 🧘🏻‍♀️✨

As a former track and field athlete, I'm no stranger to challenging workouts. After seeing Pilates become so popular and hearing positive experiences from friends, I decided to try a beginner reformer class at this location. I attended the complimentary beginner class with Johanna VanderBeek and arrived early to check in and purchase the required grip socks. This was my very first Pilates class, so I was genuinely excited to learn. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. There were only two students in the class. Johanna introduced herself at the beginning of the session but never asked either of us whether we had any prior Pilates experience, despite it being a beginner class. As a complete beginner, I naturally looked to the instructor to understand the movements and proper form. Instead, she instructed us not to look at one another and to "close your eyes and allow your body to feel the motion." Moments later, after following those instructions, she raised her voice and said, "No! No! No! You're doing it wrong! You're not listening!" Being spoken to that way in a beginner class was discouraging and unprofessional. Beginners attend these classes to learn, ask questions, and make mistakes—not to be embarrassed for not immediately knowing unfamiliar movements. About halfway through the class, I decided to leave. I explained to Johanna that I wasn't leaving because Pilates was difficult, but because I didn't appreciate the way she was speaking to me. She responded, "It's okay, I get it. It's a lot," which completely missed my concern. Afterward, I spoke with the studio manager and another staff member at the front desk. They listened to my feedback, apologized for my experience, and offered to schedule me with another instructor. I appreciated their professionalism and willingness to address the situation, but I ultimately decided not to return. I was genuinely looking forward to beginning Pilates, and it's unfortunate that my first experience was overshadowed by an instructor whose communication made what should have been a welcoming introduction feel intimidating instead. I hope Johanna reflects on how she communicates with new students, because beginners deserve patience, encouragement, and respectful instruction. Based on this experience, I do not plan to return to this location.

This was my first Pilates class, and I really enjoyed it. Imani was great—she explained everything clearly and paid close attention to my posture. She even noticed that I had put too much weight on the machine. She made me feel comfortable the whole time, and I'll definitely be coming back. I enjoyed the experience so much that I plan to become a member.
