I just received my electric wheelchair from National Seating! I have been having mobility issues due to being short of breathe from a ongoing heart problem. I knew it was going to be a difficult journey getting an electric wheelchair when I had never even had a regular one but I was struggling more and more each day...and family outings were a thing of the past! At 64 I didn't want to be left out of my family's life or limit what they did because of my health issues but the price of a scooter or electric wheelchair was not something I was ever going to be able to afford on disability. I needed something that was going to be compact enough to fit in the trunk of a car and light enough that I could load it if necessary...I spoke with Tony Nunez from National Seating and got the ball rolling (and I did have a medical advocate that helped me navigate the medicare system) and I had 1 face to face appointment for measurements and a consultation before delivery but I now I can disassemble/assemble and load the wheelchair in minutes and be on my way for dr. appts., shopping or whatever I need to do for that day! Thank you again Tony for making this process as easy as possible!

I got hassled by my doctor and national seating and mobility stayed with me the entire time. I was always kept in the loop about what was going on. I am very pleased. A disabled person can get hassled enough with everyday things. These guys took very good care of me. thank you!

The level of care and professionalism demonstrated by David was exceptional. Working with individuals who have quadriplegia requires not only deep product knowledge, but also passionate, empathy, and genuine compassion. David demonstrated all of these qualities.

My experience over the years is unacceptable and honestly appalling for a company whose main focus is patient care and providing medically necessary mobility equipment.
It is completely unacceptable that patients are expected to have excessive wait times for medically necessary equipment that directly impact their independence and ability to function day to day. To make matters worse, when equipment is finally delivered, it is often incorrect or incomplete even though specifications have been clearly documented at the time of the original order. When these mistakes happen, they should be corrected immediately. Not in several months, weeks, or in my experience, never at all.
Since the beginning of working with NSM, I have experienced repeated delays, poor communication, a lack of follow through and many unresolved issues throughout my time working with the Fresno branch. I still have never received parts from a wheelchair order placed in 2022, and in 2024, I also requested replacement parts for items that were lost or damaged by an airline, and those parts were never received either.
On top of that, I began the process of getting a new wheelchair in November 2025. As of May 2026, nothing has been done to move the process forward. Over six months has passed with little to no meaningful progress, communication, or urgency. This is completely unacceptable for equipment that I depend on day to day.
There appears to also be a serious lack of accountability from everyone involved at this location. My experience isn’t an isolated one. The public google reviews of the Fresno location are filled with multiple complaints from other patients that describe many of my same issues. Many of them discuss the lack of follow through, poor communication, excessive delays in receiving items, missing parts on their equipment, and other unresolved issues. The responses from National Seating and Mobility are the same generic copy and paste response apologizing and promising to discuss issues, and yet it appears the issues never resolve. There comes a point when you repeatedly apologize for the same thing that the apologies become meaningless when there’s no change to back it up.
While I personally am still able to function without my wheelchair to some extent, many people cannot. There are people who rely entirely on their wheelchairs every single day to be able to work, go to school, go to medical appointments, and have any semblance of independence. Delays like this are not just a minor inconvenience, they directly impact people's lives.
Patients come to National Seating and Mobility vulnerable and trusting that they will receive quality care in a timely manner, a certain level of communication, and support. Yet my experience over the years demonstrated a lack of urgency, organization, and poor communication as well as a lack of patient care. I should not be spending my time trying to chase down phone numbers, paperwork, updates on my equipment and wondering if trying to get a new chair is even worth it anymore.
This complaint reads as frustration, but its so much more than that. Quite frankly, I'm angry. I’m angry at the repeated failure to properly serve patients who depend on you and your company to provide them a service that affects someone’s independence, mobility, and overall livelihood. I sincerely hope this complaint is actually taken seriously and some serious changes are made within the Fresno branch so that future patients don’t continue to experience the same abhorrent level of care I have been receiving over the years.

We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
