Extremely disappointing and exhausting experience with UFC Gym Brea involving prepaid services, documented medical circumstances, and repeated failures in professionalism, communication, and accountability from staff and management.
In December 2025, I prepaid $1,050 upfront for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sessions with Coach Richard Lopez after being reassured that scheduling flexibility and accommodation would not be an issue. Unfortunately, after payment was made, scheduling conflicts became ongoing despite my repeated communication, flexibility, and good-faith efforts to coordinate.
Shortly afterward, I underwent a serious medical procedure that resulted in documented physician restrictions prohibiting participation in contact sports, boxing, MMA, jiu-jitsu, strenuous exercise, and related physical activity long-term. I promptly communicated this to gym staff and later submitted formal medical documentation supporting these restrictions.
Despite this:
* My prepaid sessions remain entirely unused
* I was still charged additional fees during recovery
* I was repeatedly told issues would be “handled” or “noted” when they apparently were not
* Emails and calls frequently went unanswered
* I was repeatedly told management was unavailable
* I was transferred or redirected from one employee to another with no resolution
* Calls were disconnected during attempts to discuss my account
* I received conflicting information from different staff members throughout the process
* Legitimate medical concerns and documentation were treated dismissively rather than professionally
What made this experience especially disappointing was the overall treatment received while attempting to resolve the matter respectfully. Both my girlfriend and I were repeatedly made to feel dismissed, unwelcome, and like our concerns were an inconvenience rather than a legitimate customer issue involving significant prepaid funds and documented medical restrictions.
At multiple points, interactions with staff felt unprofessional, indifferent, and unnecessarily disrespectful. Instead of receiving clear communication or assistance, I consistently encountered avoidance, lack of follow-through, contradictory information, and a complete absence of accountability.
I made every effort to resolve this privately and professionally before posting this review. I communicated consistently, followed staff instructions, provided medical documentation promptly, and attempted to work directly with the gym for months in good faith.
At this point, the issue is no longer only about the unused prepaid sessions. It is about the complete lack of professionalism, customer care, communication, and accountability demonstrated throughout this process.
Assistant Manager Freddy, Manager Saeed, staff members Brianna and Rachel, Coach Richard Lopez, and owner Slava should seriously reevaluate how member concerns are handled at this location, especially when legitimate medical circumstances and substantial prepaid amounts are involved.
I strongly encourage anyone considering prepaid packages, long-term commitments, or upfront payments at UFC Gym Brea to thoroughly review all policies in writing and carefully document every interaction.
I have retained documentation supporting both the medical restrictions and my extensive attempts to resolve this matter appropriately and privately. I remain hopeful that UFC Gym corporate leadership will review this situation seriously, address the conduct and handling involved, and provide a fair resolution regarding the entirely unused prepaid sessions.
