Your healthcare provider may determine that an ultrasound is necessary, to check on the progress of your baby during pregnancy or to diagnose a concern you may have been experiencing. Medically necessary ultrasounds are helpful to your health and well-being as a woman, beyond discovering whether you will have a boy or girl when pregnant! During pregnancy, you will have a sonogram when it is medically indicated. We use the imaging to determine your due date, check on the growth of the baby, to survey the baby and placenta, and to assess any issues that may arise, such as bleeding.
