Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

To be fair, in terms of dispensing medicine, this pharmacy does its job. I had negative experience that I want to warn others about. I use this pharmacy for my mother’s medication, she is not well and I am her advocate and caregiver. My last visit to this pharmacy ended up with a total of $400. This is after insurance, that’s another gripe haha. When looking at my receipt after I left the store, I noticed a Fry’s VIP card had been scanned during this transaction and a sizable amount of fuel points were awarded to this account. Now to be honest, I don’t know my Fry’s VIP account number but I was sure that I never gave them my card to scan or phone number to enter. But did confirm that the number in the receipt was not my VIP account. So during my checkout at the pharmacy, after a total of $400, the gentleman (whose name starts with ‘A’) surreptitiously scanned his, friend or family members card to receive the benefits/fuel points from transaction. I went inside and spoke with the store manager on duty. Was not really told much other than sorry. They did scan my VIP card and said they would be crediting me the fuel points earned but never saw them. I do know in other industries and companies, abusing the customer reward program by employees is generally considered theft and/or fraud, and usually a fireable offense. I was incredulous that someone had the audacity to do this and made me wonder how many other customers were scammed by this employee. Just want to out this out there as a warning to other pharmacy customers to check your receipts and hopefully prevent this from happening to you. It’s worth noting that all of the other employees I have dealt with have been competent and helpful, explaining insurance authorizations and answering all questions asked.

This has been a constant thing with Fry's Pharmacy, 4814 E. Carefree Highway Cave Creek AZ. Even when there are multiple people working there they take their sweet time coming over to help you. Yesterday was the last straw for me. There was a man picking up his prescription in front of me. It took several minutes for the blonde pharmacist to deign to come over and help him. When he left I was standing there waiting to pick up mine. She turned without a word and simply WALKED AWAY!!!! My jaw dropped and I threw up my hands. The other young man saw me and hurried over to ring me up. How dare any "professional" treat a customer like that? Disgusting.

The absolutely best pharmacy around. They actually care about you and your health. Burt is so compassionate and helpful. He seems to know all his "regulars" by name. I drive about 30 minutes to this pharmacy when others are closer because of the excellent service.
