  In April 2022, I called about services for my mother who is 98 years of age. I spoke to Bentley and was very impressed with her and was excited to do business with them . Bentley followed up appropriately with a second call and we agreed to reconvene our conversations when mother got out of the hospital and was going home. During a third call, Bentley told me a home visit would be performed and we set the time/date for May 9 and that I would be handled by another staff member "Heather". On May 2 I called the office to speak with Heather but was told "she was on her break" and the lady that answered the phone said she would "leave a note on her desk" to call me. I did not receive a call back. On May 4, I called the office and left a voicemail for Heather. She never called back. I was forced to make other arrangements for my elder care needs. On May 9, Heather called to confirm the appointment on that afternoon. I quizzed her about why I had not had a phone call from my previous messages a week earlier and she gave all sorts of excuses. Based on reputation of Home Instead and by positive interaction with Bentley, I confirmed the appointment. A few minutes later, Heather called to cancel the appointment because "we got off on the wrong foot and she doesn't not think they could ever make me happy". I asked to talk to the owner who was conveniently "in a meeting". As of this writing, I have not spoken to the owner or any other principal, manager or supervisor in Home Instead. The truth is that Bentley initiated the business relationship very professionally and positively. Heather is where it went south by not returning phone calls. The owner continued the trek south by not returning a phone call in an attempt to salvage the business relationship. My experience begs the question: "If I can not trust them to return a phone call, can I trust them to take care of my elderly mother?"
