Was cautious about this location after reading reviews but I have been positively surprised. Hygiene: I’ve never felt grossed out in the main area or the locker rooms. I regularly see staff walking around and cleaning down equipment in the mornings. That being said, it’s a gym full of sweaty people. Equipment: Some of the machines are down for maintenance, but much less than I see other reviews mention. In the mornings I rarely have to wait the equipment I need and people don’t mind if you work in between their sets if you ask nicely. It’s not a “fancy” gym so don’t expect a sauna, pool, etc. However it has what you need for a good workout. TVs: Not important to me but I’ve seen multiple reviews mention them. There are more than enough TVs. One or two are playing Golds ads and their music station, but the rest are playing sports talk shows. Staff: Like everyone else has said, staff are chill and friendly. Overall: Great budget gym. Has what you need, facility is clean, staff is nice.

As others have said, cancelling your membership here is extremely frustrating. I thought my membership had been cancelled months ago, but recently found out a tab had been running the entire time. I hadn’t stepped foot in the gym for months and had no idea charges were continuing. I understand memberships are billed regardless of usage, but I believed my account had been closed and I didn’t even have a card on file during that time. When I called to resolve it and make sure the membership was cancelled, I still had to pay the balance that accumulated over the months plus another full month on top of it. Overall a very frustrating experience.

Front desk staff is mostly pleasant, but the facility is dumpy and the membership policies are predatory - make sure you know what you're signing up for as it's difficult to get out of the membership and they'll continue charging you well after you cancel due to notice requirements. The machines are ancient, bathroom was always a mess, and temperatures are sweltering in the summer.

The reviews speak for themselves, no water fountains, poor hygiene and maintenance. Smells like mildew and chlorine but doesn’t have those kind of amenities. Draws a certain crowd, someone insinuated I possibly stole their phone, only to find it minutes later. The manager is a total knob, because of their shady dealings and nature with contract binding but no contract agreements golds has delve into. Rude and snarky, glad to not be surrounded by THOSE kind of people. Be blessed.

I’ve been coming to this gym regularly, and there’s a lot to like, especially the wonderful staff. The trainers and front desk team really care about the community here and make the environment welcoming. I also appreciate that they recently introduced a dedicated cleaning crew. It’s a noticeable improvement and deserves a shout out. That said, given the prime location in Westlake there’s a surprising lack of facility upgrades and amenities compared to what you might expect for the area. —> Here are the areas where this gym falls short: There are not enough weight benches, and two traditional benches were replaced with odd inflatable ones that are rarely used. The free weight area is also the only area with 1 television and it constantly plays ads for Gold's Gym. I'm no marketing genius but why would I want to watch ads for a gym I am already at? The functional workout space is very small, with most of the open floor space reserved for CrossFit classes, which leaves little room for stretching or unique workouts. The community here clearly cares about fitness and there is a wealthy/dedicated member base that would support a more modern facility. Adding a sauna, an expanded turf or functional area, and even just a few more pieces of equipment would make a big difference. With competitors like Lifetime continuing to expand, many members would likely move to a more updated gym with modern amenities. Best of luck to Golds. The staff is fantastic, but the space and equipment need improvements to match the potential of this location.
