After an untrustworthy experience at Aspen Dental I switched to Gentle care and the whole team there from the front door to the very end, everyone was so kind and warm/inviting definitely changed my mood about going to the dentist! Now I feel more comfortable going in and getting the rest of my work done! I went in for an embarrassing chipped front tooth and they were able to get me taken care of that day!

Frequently Asked Questions About Gentle Dental Care of Tyler
What is restorative dental care?
Restorative dental care is a branch of dentistry that focuses on repairing or replacing damaged or missing teeth. It encompasses a range of treatments including fillings, crowns, bridges, dental implants, dentures, and root canal therapy. The primary objectives are to restore dental function, improve appearance, and maintain overall oral health.
How do I know which restorative treatment is right for me?
Determining the right restorative treatment involves a comprehensive evaluation by your dentist. They'll examine your teeth, gums, and bite, and may take x-rays for a more detailed view. The best solution is chosen based on factors such as the extent of decay or damage, your overall oral health, and your aesthetic preferences.
Are restorative dental procedures painful?
Restorative dental procedures are generally performed under local anesthesia, ensuring patient comfort. While you may feel pressure during the treatment, pain is typically minimal. It's normal to experience mild soreness afterward, but your dentist will provide guidance on managing discomfort and ensuring a smooth recovery.
How long do restorative dental treatments last?
The longevity of restorative dental treatments varies depending on the type of restoration, materials used, and your oral care routine. Fillings often last several years, while crowns, bridges, and implants can endure for a decade or more with proper oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups.
Does insurance cover restorative dental procedures?
Many dental insurance plans provide at least partial coverage for restorative treatments, particularly for medically necessary procedures such as fillings, crowns, or root canals. However, coverage can vary significantly between providers. It's advisable to review your plan details or have our office verify your benefits for accurate information.
What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is a field dedicated to enhancing the appearance of your smile. It includes various treatments such as teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, cosmetic crowns, Invisalign, and gum contouring. These procedures aim to improve tooth color, shape, alignment, and overall smile aesthetics.
How do I know which cosmetic treatment is right for me?
Selecting the right cosmetic treatment begins with a thorough evaluation by your dentist. They'll assess your teeth, gums, and discuss your smile goals. Based on your needs, whether it's brighter teeth, straighter teeth, or a complete smile makeover, they'll recommend suitable options. The consultation may involve photos, digital scans, or a smile preview to help visualize potential results.
Are cosmetic dental procedures painful?
Most cosmetic dental procedures are minimally invasive and cause little to no discomfort. Treatments like teeth whitening and bonding typically don't require anesthesia. For procedures such as veneers or crowns, which may involve some tooth preparation, local anesthesia is used to ensure patient comfort.
How long do cosmetic dental results last?
The duration of cosmetic dental results varies by treatment. Teeth whitening effects can last from 6 months to 2 years with proper maintenance. Bonding typically lasts 3-7 years, while veneers and crowns can endure for 10-15 years or more. Maintaining good oral hygiene and avoiding habits like biting hard objects or smoking can help prolong the results.
Is cosmetic dentistry covered by insurance?
Most dental insurance plans consider cosmetic treatments as elective and may not provide coverage. However, some procedures that offer functional benefits, such as crowns or orthodontics, might be partially covered. Our office can assist you in checking your benefits and explaining your options to help you make an informed decision.
