This is a TEACHING HOSPITAL so be very careful on the type of care you coming for there are a lot of inexperience nurses and residents here who dont know what they are doing or may be doing certain things to certain people on purpose but my experience was very dangerous thank the god that he had his hands on me and my baby still came back home alive.

I came in after I went to the University Health Clinic for a upper respiratory infection and they said mine and my babys heart rate were to high. Everyone was very kind from when I first got to adult emergency and then to the womens and children's center. All the nurses were very kind and explained everything along the way really well. I never felt like I didn't know what they were doing. They were very thorough on finding out what could be wrong if it was something more severe or not. After IV fluids and monitoring the baby, both our heart rates eventually went down and they still continue good care. I've read a lot of bad reviews about the hospital and I understand completely how everyones experience is different and if things had gone differently I would definitely say so. Thankfully God was with me and I was fortunate enough to have a good experience. I hope more patients have better experiences too.

DO NOT come here if you are having a true emergency!!
I came in because I was actively miscarrying, bleeding large amounts, and had just fainted 30min before arriving.
First off, if you go to the “Emergency Drop off” area there is only one security guard there who will just point you to walk to the other side of the building and offer no other assistance while you can barely walk, have bled through your pants and are being held up by your husband. Then, you will be met by a clerk who will make you check in and write your name in a book before you can pass through security doors and take an elevator to get to the actual womens emergency area. Then, you will go through another small area where you will be pointed to go through another door to be checked in by a nurse sitting in a small room to ask you all of your personal info.
Then while still bleeding with pants soaked, you will be made to wait in the waiting room for 15min before being called by the nurses to get up from the wheelchair your husband found for you and sit in a room to have vitals and blood taken. Then you will be told to go back to the waiting room before being called again.
At no point during my visit was I ever shown any concern or empathy for what I was going through by anyone!
The young resident Dr. and the attending Dr. I was seen by were so matter of fact about what was happening to me and they did not respect my autonomy. I wanted to go through the miscarriage naturally and without invasive intervention as I was told I could two days earlier when I was here and my miscarriage was diagnosed. The resident did not respect this as I denied to have a trans vaginal ultrasound and asked for an attempt at an abdominal one instead. She proceeded to preform a vaginal exam on me with a spectacle as she said she needed to look at my cervix and was about to begin manually removing tissue without explaining anything beforehand. I stated to the resident that I did not want this done I want to go through it naturally as most of it has already passed this way at home in the past two hours. I stated the main reason I came in was because I passed out. While still spread out on the chair with two nurses standing there (doing nothing but watching), the resident became defensive and began to talk to me like “its literally right there I can just remove it” and “SOoo you dont want me to take it out then?” with child-like attitude. The staff Dr. was then called in to evaluate the situation and he too showed no empathy or humanity about the situation but at least was more informative.
Long story short, I will never come back to this place again! Shame on everyone for treating people who are going through some of the worst times of their lives with such little compassion!
