I had a gallbladder surgery with Dr. Vargas last Thursday. The surgery center it was performed at was great, however, I do have some issues with this clinic specifically about the way my post-op care was handled. Dr. Vargas himself was fine (I didn't really see or talk to him very much), but pre-op, we discussed how an anti-nausea med post-op would more than likely be a prudent move. I was told I'd be issued some, and it was included in the post-op care instructions I was given. However, when I went to retrieve my prescriptions, I was told there was no nausea medication for me (and I definitely was nauseous). I tried calling this place to inquire when they could send the prescription as I was suffering, and was met with a woman at the front desk who seemed intent on making my recovery more difficult. When I asked about the nausea meds, she coldly informed me that "she had been working with Dr. Vargas for 13 years" and that "during that entire time, they had NEVER prescribed nausea meds for post-op care" (which is funny, since, as a precuation pre-op until I could get the nausea meds clearly typed about in my paperwork, they opted to give me an anti-nausea sticker behind my ear, and again, it was literally on my aftercare paperwork). Being gaslit by argumentative office workers literally the very day I've had several puncture wounds put in me and an organ removed with minimal pain relief is not something anyone wants to do. I should not have to beg for the care I PAID for.
Also, I was only given enough pain medication (which was insufficient as it was) to last from my surgery on Thursday until Sunday morning when taken on time (every 6 hours, as per the bottle). I am now having to attempt to manage my pain alone. I have tried speaking to office staff only to be met with a general unwillingness to make sure I'm comfortable (the rude woman at the front desk begrudgingly said she would "look into" that medication, and sure enough, I have not heard anything back). I've barely eaten the past few days, and I will not be booking with these people again, despite their close proximity.
Not the level of care I was expecting at all.
