  This is a "before surgery" review. I will review again after my surgery. A friend was being prepped for his neck surgery, and I was in his room when the doc came in for his pre-op visit. I was so impressed with his bedside manner, explaining everything, and I mean everything. He answered MY questions about my friend's situation, and even answered a few things about my condition. My friend was a mess beforehand, and doc fixed him. So impressed I was, I made an appointment for a consult visit. My consult with him was thoroughly informative and educational. He really explains thoroughly, answers questions, and has a great personality. So yup, in a few months, he's going to be my surgeon for my L3-S1 screws and rods surgery. I have a lot of faith and confidence, and feel very positive. I'll submit another review after all is said and done.

  I had Dr Richardson surgically instal a spinal cord stimulator. As far as I can tell he did a good job of that, but his staff leaves a lot to be desired!!! My first contact, they couldn't find my paperwork that had been faxed over 5 days previously. Jessica was SUPPOSED to call and go over my medications in detail, this never happened and I was taking Tumeric until the day before surgery. The intake nurse at the hospital was very concerned as this could cause bleeding. At our consultation with Dr Richardson, he said he would be sending out nurses every other day to check on me. After surgery my husband asked him about my home healthcare and Dr Richardson told him that he never said that and wouldn't be sending anyone out. Two weeks after surgery we met with Dr Richardson's Nurse Practitioner, JBluntzer. She told us that she did not order me antibiotics because "you are allergic to too many medicines". She said to leave off my bandages, that I was healed and could carry on a normal life. At that point my Medtronics representative, Elizabeth, came in the room and set up my Spinal Cord Stimulator. With no antibiotics my sutures became infected. Thankfully my primary doctor took care of ordering home healthcare and antibiotics. I am still on restricted movements (can't lift heavy items or lean over). Almost a month later I still have drainage and one wound is still not healed! I just found out yesterday from my medtronics representative that the Spinal Cord Stimulator never should have been turned on until ALL infection is gone and the wound is healed!!!! Needless to say I DO NO RECOMMEND DR KEVIN RICHARDSON!!! I think he needs to get a handle on his staff!!! Update 1/14/25 I have gone to several doctors since this operation! I was told “it was a botched surgery “, that the leads were placed “2-3 to low” and ultimately that I need another operation to fix the issue since the leads are not in a position where the spinal cord stimulator can address my pain areas!!! I also found out that due to the almost 3 months of infection that I experienced, the fine clasps that were used to attach the leads to my spine may have dissolved causing the wires (leads) to move!!! I DO NOT recommend Dr Richardson and staff now more than ever!!!

  I have just met Dr. Richardson once so far. I will be having surgery in Dec. I totally trust him after reading up about him and meeting him. What a kind and caring man with a little sense of humor to make you feel relaxed! Diane K

  Going on my second back surgery with dr Richardson very tentative knowledge excelellent surgeon ,highly recommended! Great staff !
