    This place lacks communication. They do not answer emails nor do they answer through the patient portal. We were told it would be around 500, but once we get there, it shot up to 900. The receptionist said she didn't understand why it went to $900. That was the first red flag we ignored. We set up a payment plan and waited for the insurance. Insurance brought it down to about 200. We were still billed for the first payment plan, BUT they did not credit the account. Called them and the receptionist said she can't help because we set up the first payment plan already and all she could do was send a receipt. She asked if we wanted to talk to billing instead. Billing was helpful at the very least. She said since the card was not under the patient's name, then the payment was not applied to the account. This is highly alarming. Was the clinic planning to keep the money? I waited two weeks for it to be returned or some notification from them, but they only took action when I called. She applied the payment to the account and cleared the remaining balance. Next week I was charged again. I had to file a complaint. This time they actually replied to the patient portal and refunded me. That was all a month ago. They now charged my card again. Run from this place. They WILL take your money and keep quiet. If you're already a patient, make sure you're checking your statements for theft. Edit to add: It's been about a week. We have sent two messages through the portal and have not been answered, even though they state we will get a response in 24 hours. We have tried the live chat. Emjay ended the chat twice with no response. We tried the live chat again the next day, and they automatically ended it. Had to call them directly The billing department said no payment was made, and that the account showed a zero balance. If a refund were to be made, then it should show a negative balance. I had to tell her multiple times that I am looking at the patient portfolio, and it has a negative balance. Eventually, she said she will submit an inquiry for a refund request, and it will take 3-5 days for the refund. Anyone that is sent here by their doctors, ask for another provider or look elsewhere. This clinic will rob you, and lie about it. We will report this to our PCP, so she is aware that this clinic is stealing from her patients.

    Nice waiting area, they have complimentary water, soda and goodies. The office staff was very welcoming. They send out a text when the appointment is made..for you to complete prior to appointment.. before appointment you are sent a text letting you know any cost you will be responsible for at the time of the visit. The very nice women that does the MRI'S was fantastic. I recommend using North Star.

    This place is an absolute scam! I have now been twice to get an ultrasound for my daughter. The first time they charged me $350 and they told me that that was with insurance, so I paid it in office and then when I got my insurance EOB, it said I only owed $54, so I called them and asked for a refund. They were nice about it and gave me my refund no questions asked. The second time I went, the exact same thing happened…they charged me $354 and I asked them at the front desk if they could bill my insurance first and then bill me whatever I owe over that so that I’m not overpaying. The girl at the front desk, first of all, was very rude and clearly did not want to be there. She said this is the cost with insurance, so again, I paid it and when my insurance went through, it said I only owed $113. I called their billing department again and asked for my refund. They were nice about it and said it would be back on my card in a few days. I asked the girl in the billing department how I can prevent this from happening in the future. She didn’t really seem to have a clue and said that the cost that they give you in office is just an estimate. Ok, well my understanding from an estimate is that this is what you MAY owe, not “you must pay us this amount or you can’t get services today”, which is what the girl at the front desk made it seem like. The lady in the billing department said we don’t handle the insurance portion, we just do the billing, so she didn’t seem to know. I then asked her “do you guys eventually audit your patients’ accounts and refund them for all the money that they’ve overpaid you?” And she told me NO you have to call if you want to get your refund!! Are you serious??? I laughed and told her that is extremely concerning that you guys are keeping money from your patients that they don’t actually owe you. She didn’t have a response to that. All of this to say, if you go in there and they charge you a lot of money for services, wait for your insurance to process, call them and get your refund that you are rightfully owed. I would love to know what this company is doing with all of the extra money that they’re getting from their patients who aren’t being diligent to look at how much they actually owe with insurance. I don’t see how their phones aren’t ringing off the hook from all the overpayments that they are receiving. It is absolutely unbelievable and I cannot believe this is even legal. It is very unfortunate that this is the only place my insurance is in network with, so I will continue to call and get my refund, but if you have the option, I recommend going somewhere that has honest business practices.

    Very disappointed with the front desk staff at North Star Diagnostic Imaging. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude, showed no basic courtesy, and looked as if she was forced to be at work. What made it worse was that the staff behind the front desk were laughing among themselves while I was speaking, which felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. As a patient who had already arrived for an X-ray, this behavior was upsetting. On a positive note, the male technician who performed the X-ray was very sweet, polite, and professional. Unfortunately, the front desk experience overshadowed the visit. Management seriously needs to address staff behavior and patient interaction.
