When I pointed out the remark, she dismissed it as “a joke” and only apologized after being challenged. “Jokes” should not be made at the patients expense. This was unprofessional and odd during a medical eye exam visit, especially since her whole face was asymmetrical. Management should address staff behavior and train employees on respectful customer service.
