Dr Kern and her staff are the absolute best. Got seen the same day I called—procedure completed with absolutely no pain and some great smiles! I highly recommend this office for their professionalism, their work ethic, and their courtesy from the front desk to the nurse to the doctor. I give them a huge thank you for taking care of me and relieving all my anxieties.

I could not have found a better Podiatrist then Dr. McKenzie Kerns!!! I had ongoing painful issues for almost a year, and when she came to the New Braunfels location I was so lucky to get an appointment with her. She immediately had a plan, and we immediately got started on my road to recovery. She is patient, professional, kind, and supportive! Dr. Kerns you are the best. I HIGHLY recommend her. Her office staff, Stephanie and Odesha are incredible also.

Frequently Asked Questions About San Antonio Podiatry Associates: New Braunfels Office
Why might I need foot or ankle reconstruction surgery?
If the structure of your foot or ankle has been compromised due to an injury of the side-effects of an illness, reconstructive surgery is a necessary step to restoring its natural functionality, and sometimes even its appearance. Some of the most common reasons our podiatrists may recommend reconstructive surgery include:
Extreme structural differences that cause chronic pain (severely high arches or flat feet)
Fractures which may have healed inappropriately
Severe sports injuries such as Achilles tendon tears or ankle ligament injuries
Heel and bone spurs
Severe deformities as a result of arthritis, infections or tumors
Deformities as a result of metabolic disease, like diabetes
Severe bunions and hammertoes
What is the standard recovery time for foot and ankle surgery?
While each individual has a different journey to recovery, we understand the urgency our patients may feel to return to work and other daily activities after surgery. Your foot and ankle surgeon will develop a custom surgical plan including the time off needed to properly heal foot and ankle surgery and any lifestyle changes in order to produce a desirable outcome.
Our foot and ankle surgeons are constantly learning new, innovative techniques to improve recovery, pain, and post-operative outcomes in order to return each individual to normal daily function as quickly as possible.
Will I need physical therapy?
Physical therapy is an essential next step for patients who undergo foot and ankle surgery. After a period of rest, physical therapy helps restore strength and movement to the area of your injury. This promotes proper healing, helps manage pain post-treatment, and serves to prevent a loss of mobility or permanent damage that can result in chronic pain.
Will insurance cover my surgery?
While this is ultimately a question for your insurance provider, the team at San Antonio Podiatry Associates is committed to removing cost barriers for our patients whenever possible. If you are concerned about your ability to pay for the surgery you need, contact our office - our knowledgeable staff are happy to answer your questions and help you in any way we can.
