Frequently Asked Questions About Methodist Craig Ranch Surgery Center
Who administers anesthesia?
When you awake from anesthesia, we’ll ask you multiple times about your pain level. Our attending nurses address the pain in multiple ways, including with IV and oral pain medication. Your doctor will order any pain medications needed to treat your specific needs and procedure.
When can I eat before surgery?
Unless otherwise specified by our staff, don’t eat or drink anything after midnight the day prior to your surgery. If your doctor instructed you to take a specific medication, take it with minimal water.
Don’t chew gum, eat breath mints or hard candies, or smoke after midnight.
How will my pain be treated after my surgery?
The surgeon will send you home with a pain medication prescription. It’s important to take this medication as prescribed and note your pain levels for 24-48 hours.

What to bring:
All current medications (keep in original bottles)
Insurance/Medicare Cards
Photo ID
Loose, comfortable clothing
Glasses, if applicable (no contact lenses)
Dentures, hearing aids, and their storage cases
Personal toiletries (if staying overnight)
Supportive, non-skid shoes
What not to bring:
Contact lenses
Hair spray
Body lotion or perfume
Jewelry (including wedding rings, earrings, body piercings)
Makeup
Nail polish
Valuables or irreplaceable items
Who Can I Call If I Need Medical Records?
To view any medical records, call our Centralized Records office at (972) 569-2719. Please don’t submit these requests online.
Will I get to speak with the anesthesiologist before my surgery?
Yes. On the day of your surgery, your anesthesiologist will sit down with you to review your medical history and explain his/her plan for your care. You can address any questions or concerns during this consultation.
Please contact the hospital’s admissions nurse at (972) 569-2751 if you have concerns that need to be addressed prior to the day of surgery.
What Do Facility Fees Cover?
Your bill covers the use of our facility. It doesn’t include professional fees charged by physicians for laboratory, pathology, radiology, medical care, surgery, or anesthesiology.
Can I Make a Payment Online?
You can pay your bill online with a credit card or bank transfer. Click the “Make a Payment” link at the top of this page to be directed to Methodist McKinney Hospital’s secure online payment page.
Who Can I Call if I Need Financial Assistance?
Call our business office at (469) 301-7104 prior to your surgery to discuss alternative payment methods. Our patient account representatives are available 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday to discuss financial agreements with you.
Is My Physician Employed By This Hospital?
No. The physicians and other specialized medical service providers—including anesthesiologists, radiologists, and pathologists—are independent contractors who aren’t employed by this hospital. Since they are independently contracted, the hospital is not responsible or liable for their acts or omissions.
What Nutrition Services Are Available?
We offer a comprehensive nutrition and wellness program that includes diet education, registered dietitian availability, and inpatient dining, where meals are delivered to individual rooms.
Do You Have a Cafeteria?
Our new café features gourmet breakfast and lunch entrees, and convenient grab-and-go items—such as salads, sandwiches, and parfaits. It also features premium Starbucks coffee products.
The café is open from 7 a.m.- 10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for lunch, Monday through Friday.
When Can I See My Family After My Surgery/Procedure?
After your procedure, you’ll be moved to our recovery area. When you’re fully awake, your family can join you. Until then, your family is welcome to wait for you in our comfortable waiting area.
When Are Visiting Hours?
Patients’ families and friends are welcome to visit at their convenience during our flexible visiting hours. We offer complimentary coffee, cable TV, and Wi-Fi access in our waiting area.
Please note that, due to the quick recovery time for patients receiving same-day procedures, families and friends are asked to wait until the patient has recovered to join them and escort them home.
