Please stay away from this place. I had to repeat the same info 3 times in under 10 minutes to 3 different people including the doctor. This absolutely causes omissions on the patients end, people are coming in sick/injured and disoriented, they shouldn't have to provide basic medical history multiple times. "Repeating medical history multiple times during a visit, often due to fragmented systems, can decrease accuracy and increase the risk of patient harm" via NIH published study. Maybe a good thing to go over with your poorly trained techs.
In the exam room I noticed protective caps for ear and eye instruments left uncovered, loose in a bin, out in the open for all of the sick people to cough on, wildly unsanitary and unprofessional. The sink was filthy, there was bandage packaging on the counter, and rust covering the soap dispenser. My veterinarian runs a cleaner clinic than this place.
After giving my info to the doctor (this was the third time repeating myself) she did her exam and was professional, but I told her I have issues with severe headaches from previous head trauma, so of course she prescribes me a medication with the major side effect being...headaches. The medication was to suppress coughing, another side effect of that medication is allowing fluid to collect in the lungs, which may lead to pneumonia. During the appointment she said pneumonia was a real concern, so why am I being prescribed medication that can cause fluid retention? In true fashion, this doctor couldn't leave the room fast enough, it's all very transactional with no attention to actual patient care or detail. Let's top that off with the fact the building was empty, there was no reason to rush through my consult.
While I was there I was put on a nebulizer, the medical assistant dropped the sanitary lead on the floor, stepped on it, then tried to hook it up. I told her to get a new lead and she steps out only to come back in with the same hose. I was also given and IM injection which I now regret letting the staff administer, I'm going to guess if the building was disgusting then so were her hands.
On my way out there was a medical assistant splayed out in the waiting room on her phone, really punctuating my general distaste for this place and it's staff.
This place is a mess, don't let the shiny lobby fool you, it's gross in the places that matter, like employee training and procedures. Now I'm left with prescription drugs that are making me sick and now I'm on the hook for more money to go see my primary for a second assessment. I came in looking for help and I was ushered through like an inconvenience to everyone's down time.
It should not be the patients job to run down medication side effects, it should not be the patients job to ensure a partially sanitary environment and equipment, it should not be the patients job to inform each and every employee encountered with a full medical background.
Unprofessional, untrained, unsanitary, uncaring, unhelpful.
Get it together before you hurt someone please.
A quick update after a call to a competent medical professional who is familiar with my medical history, I have been informed of the following: the medication I was given was a local CNS depressant with major indicated cautions for people with a history of head trauma, which would be me. The doctor was made aware of my history but asked no further questions to ensure safety. Additionally, it is indicated that mixing this medication with any antihistamines or sedatives could increase the danger of interaction by a large margin, especially with a history of head trauma. Interestingly enough, the other medication I was given is a combination antihistamine/sedative. I'm genuinely concerned for the safety of the people going to this clinic, this problem could've easily been avoided with a few clarifying questions on the doctors part. Instead I was rushed through and given a potentially lethal combination of medications. I will be alerting all appropriate medical governing bodies. You're going to hurt someone.
