A Cautionary Experience Worth Sharing I generally don’t leave negative reviews, and until this happened I had nothing bad to say about this studio but I believe this one is important — not out of frustration, but out of a sense of responsibility to others who might find themselves in a similar situation. In October 2024, I visited the PB studio with the intention of canceling my membership. Lauren, the staff member I spoke with and was used to seeing every day I went to class really didn't want me to cancel and proposed an alternative: instead of canceling outright, she suggested placing my account on hold for $15/month for three months. She assured me that she would call me to confirm I still wanted to cancel after that time, this was so I wouldn’t need to pay a sign-up fee again should I decide to come back later. That seemed reasonable, so I agreed. And honestly I just wanted to get out of that situation which felt a bit uncomfortable to me, I really wanted to cancel but instead I literally let myself get tangled into this proposal. However, the call never came and the cancellation never occurred. Instead, I was charged the full membership fee of $169/month for nearly a year — something I didn’t catch because the account in question is managed by my husband. That’s on us. We should have noticed it sooner. But the charges were the direct result of being misinformed at the point of cancellation. And them not caring that a client that wanted to cancel is paying for months without attending. When I returned to officially cancel in person — with Lauren again — there was no acknowledgment of what had happened, no apology, and no offer of refund or credit. The cancellation was handled quickly and quietly, with a class about to begin and other clients nearby. To be clear: we aren’t trying to assign blame where it doesn’t belong. We take responsibility for not catching the billing earlier. That said, when a customer follows the instructions of your staff in good faith, and ends up losing $1,000+ because of it, it’s disappointing. Looking at the reviews, it appears this may not be an isolated incident. That’s what ultimately prompted me to write this. If you’re considering this studio, I would recommend being cautious. Get all agreements in writing, check your billing closely, and be aware that verbal assurances may not reflect what actually happens. I hope this helps others avoid a similar experience.
