We are so grateful for my Dr. Yates, Dr. M, Kimberly, T, and the entire team! From start to finish, the whole process was as smooth as it possibly could be. We felt supported every step of the way, and we know that support will continue as my son recovers. The care, professionalism, and compassion shown to our family made such a difference during a stressful time. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are beyond thankful for this amazing team!

Our 2nd daughter, who is now 10 months old, was born with right unicoronal craniosynostosis. After extensive research, I discovered many articles written by Dr. David Jimenez, the pediatric neurosurgeon who developed the endoscopic strip craniectomy--a surgical option if craniosynostosis is caught early on. Dr. Jimenez passed away 2 years ago, but he already had a pediatric neurosurgeon trained as his successor, Dr. Ziyad Makoshi, and Jimenez’s direct partner, OMFS, Dr. David Yates, who are still operating at El Paso Children's Hospital. We flew from Portland, Oregon for our daughter's surgery at 6 weeks old and continue to have her helmet treatment through her first year in El Paso. I cannot say enough good things. Drs. Yates and Makoshi have done the most endoscopic strip craniectomies in the world for treatment of craniosynostosis and hold the international symposium to train surgeons around the world in this life-saving technique. Dr. Yates just received the Emerging Leader Award from the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association. They deliver top notch care; above and beyond! Every patient is part of a family of parents with a Facebook group for support. Dr. Yates gives each family his personal cell phone number as well for questions day or night--unlike any other surgeon I've met (and I’ve met a lot as an anesthesia provider)! If this review can help another family get the best care for their child, then everything we went through feels like it had more of a purpose. We’re so glad we chose Drs. Yates and Makoshi and we’d make the same choice again.

We can’t say enough good things about the experience we had with Dr Yates! Our son had 3 surgeries with him all within less than a year. From the first day we met him we truly felt like he cared about our son and wanted to get an accurate diagnosis. Which is exactly what he did, he found a very rare tumor in our son’s scalp, and knew exactly what we needed to do to get it out. He was always extremely patient with us and explained the treatment plan so well! We saw him once a week for 4 months and our son was excited every time we got to go to his office! He got all the tumor out of our son’s scalp after his most recent surgery and was very aggressive to make sure our son wouldn’t go through this again! He saved our son’s life and we will forever be grateful to him! He is our favorite doctor and I would recommend him to anyone I know!! He truly cares about his patients and their families!
