They examined and tested my dad's eyes. I feel they were very thorough and competent.

I went in on a referral from my Ophthalmologist. I thought I would undergo Lazer treatment for a tear on my retina; however, after their thorough testing, it was determined that the tear was an old tear, in an irrelevant place, and I did not require treatment.
The doctor was clear, positive, and concise (everything I want in a doctor); therefore, I highly recommend Dr. Khawley!

Frequently Asked Questions About Retina & Vitreous of Texas
What insurance do you accept?
At Retina & Vitreous of Texas, Our goal is to provide the utmost assistance and coordination with all of our participating health insurance providers as well as Medicare. We are pleased to be participating providers for Medicare and almost every other major health insurance plan. We are specialists, so we only accept primary health insurance, we do not accept vision insurance. For more information, please call our office or visit our website.
Do you do regular eye exams? Can you fit me for glasses/contacts, too?
Retina & Vitreous of Texas does not provide prescriptions for glasses or contacts. We are completely focused on the back of the eye. That means we don't provide Lasik eye correction, cataract, or glaucoma treatment, either. However, we are happy to refer patients to these types of specialists if needed. Learn more about diseases and treatments that our retina associates are specialized in via our website.
Am I going to be dilated?
Yes. It is standard procedure for RVT to conduct our own eye exams for our patients, new and current. This includes eye dilation. Dilation usually lasts about 4-6 hours. We recommend coming with a companion to drive you home, especially if this is your first visit. Dilation can impair everyone a bit differently. If you have any questions, please call our offices.
What do I need to bring to my first visit?
We ask that you bring your insurance card and driver's license or ID. We also have patient forms that can be completed and submitted online from our website.
I do not have insurance, do you offer self-pay?
Yes. We offer a self-pay option. We do require a $250 deposit for your visit. You can learn more about our self-pay policy and Good Faith Estimate on our website
How do I get a refill on my prescription?
Reach out to your preferred pharmacy and let them know that you need a refill. They will get in touch with us for approval and then they will let know you when your prescription is ready for pick-up.
If I have diabetes do I have to go to a retina specialist?
We highly recommend visiting a vitreoretinal specialist as well as your optometrist every year. This is the best way to ensure that any eye issues that are common among those with diabetes can be monitored and treated to ensure that your eye health can be maintained and any issues can be caught early. For more information, please visit our website or call our offices.
How do I get my most recent visit note(s)?
To access any of your visit notes, to upgrade your demographic or pharmacy information, or to pay a bill with us you can log in to your Patient Portal. You can access this 24/7 by computer using the link provided or you can download the PocketPatient app for either Apple IOS or Android devices.
