  I was very disappointed in my scheduled annual appointment at the Oak ridge Store. From the time of walking in, the whole vibe of the store had changed from what it was the last time I was there. The whole appointment was focused on a sales pitch to try and sell me a new pair of hearing aids - mine are only 3 years old and are still serving me well. Usually at the annual appointment, the specialist performs the hearing test, cleans them and tweaks them based on the results of the hearing test. Not this time; I asked about tweaking my current pair and the specialist said she could but that it would not help my hearing, but she never offered to adjust them. I'm not going back to that office again as it is not the same Miracle Ear friendly atmosphere that it once was, it was sell, sell, sell. The specialist tried to trick me also. As a result of my hearing test, she said that I had a hard time hearing vowel-heavy words, but could hear consonant-heavy words better. So when trying out the new hearing aids, she held up a paper in front of her face, so that I couldn't read her lips and asked me consonant-heavy words. But when doing so with my current hearing aids, she asked me vowel-heavy words, which she knew I had a hard time hearing. And when presenting the results "I failed to hear 50% or the words with my old hearing aids, but correctly identified 70% with the new hearing aids." A different way to present that would have been that I correctly identified 50% of the words with my old hearing aids and 70% with the new ones ... but I guess that doesn't present as dramatic of a change as doing it the first way. In the end, I felt that she was being dishonest with me. I hope this experience is not the new business model of Miracle Ear. UPDATE: After speaking with the Miricle Ear Franchise owner, he assured me that the individual was going to get more training on how to better listen to client needs. Because of this assurance, I'm raising my review from 2 stars to 4 stars.

  7/12/24 Just an update: I still can not say enough about how wonderful Paula is as a receptionist, she is worth every penny you pay her. She is a very positive Image for Miracle Ear. Kathy and Oak Ridge is wonderful to work with as well. She always takes her time and answers whatever questions I need. Paula and Kathy are two of the friendliest people I’ve had the privilege of working with. May 2024 Paula at the Home office was friendly and easy to talk to and helpful setting an appointment. I was happy to find out there was a Miracle-Ear located in Oak Ridge, TN. my appointment was with Kathy who was friendly and easy to talk with regarding all my questions before hearing test. After hearing test Kathy explained the results and answered other questions which regarded insurance coverage. They will make a copy of insurance card then verify coverage and the different payment plans which was very helpful for me. Just being able to go to Oak Ridge for adjustments will be so convent for me. Kathy told me she would happy to help me set up the Miracle-Ear on my phone which I was glad to hear since I'm not very good at these things. I look forward to working with Kathy to get the most out of my hearing aids.
