Worst customer service ever.
My daughter was discharged from the hospital with a loaner wheelchair from this company and was waiting for her custom wheelchair to be delivered.
The loaner was defective and I reached out to the company.
I left two messages with no response. Finally, I was able to get in touch with a technician who informed me that the earliest available date that anyone could look at my daughter’s loaner chair would be in over two weeks! This is unacceptable! She has PT and OT scheduled and it’s critical that she has a wheelchair.
They had no empathy and it seemed like they just didn’t care.
I told them to cancel the order for her chair and come and get the loaner because we don’t want to do business with them

What a Joke. As usual! An hour on hold. There is an employee sitting at the phone when I pull in. Rude is understatement. I just need help with a wheelchair

Update: my guess as to the response gave them too much credit. It was just a copy/paste asking me to spend more time giving them feedback.
Original review:First, I’m sorry you’re in need of this company’s services. Second, go to another company. The “communication” skills and “training” permeating the culture of this company set a new low bar, a trip-hazard-low bar, in the swamp of health care vendors I’ve had to deal with in the past three years. The employees’ main takeaway from their, what?, half-day of training, was in ways to explain why 1) it isn’t their fault and 2) speculating like Angela Lansbury, “it must’ve been” someone else’s. They’ve all sworn off taking initiative, and to-a-person, they are most committed to wasting disabled folks’ time. STEER CLEAR. (Whomever responds to this will be a well-meaning poorly-trained person from the “national” center, the source of the rain of confusion soaking this company’s local franchises)

My Aunt who had her wheelchair repaired. Jonah, Steve and Daniel were caring and professional.
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
