- MNMark NeufferOct 26, 20251.0I secured an agreement for an overnight stay by Home Instead after my operation on September 24, 2025. This was required by my surgeon's office. The caregiver was about half an hour late and started to enter my apartment. Seeing my cat, she started gibbering that "she couldn't do this" and backed away. Eventually, and with a curt explanation that she was allergic to animals, she left. I called the service and explained the problem, and the receptionist somewhat hesitantly indicated that they might, at the very last moment, get someone to stay with me. She tried to suggest that advising the agency that I had a cat was my responsibility. On the contrary, I contended, if there are screening issues, they should be included on the voluminous paperwork I had to complete. It is the responsibility of the agency, not the client, to determine if there are pets present AND if their service personnel have allergies. I asked to speak with the manager of the operation, and was told that she had gone home for the day and that a return call would be placed to me the next day. It never was. I made other arrangements for the night. This agency deserves a zero score for performance and a zero score for follow up. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS AGENCY TO ANYONE IN NEED OF RESPONSIBLE AND RESPONSIVE CARE.
