MULTIPLE DOCTORS IN THE CLINIC! Know who you're getting and leaving reviews for.
First I want to say that the eyeglasses technicians were amazing! So helpful in so many ways. They are the ONLY reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1. Jan especially was extremely patient with my mom and found some creative solutions to help mom feel confident about her new Rx after the unnecessarily distressing eye exam.
The bad...there are two optometrists here and only one is good. Within the last year, 4 of my family members have seen Dr. Seibert who works part time at this clinic. He is fantastic in every way. However, all paperwork, letterhead, business cards etc from this clinic have the other doctor's (Dr. Rommeich) name in them so I think most of the positive reviews for rhe eye clinics are likely for Dr. Seibert, not the primary doctor.
This was our experience with Dr. Roemmich:.
I accompanied my 73-year-old mother to an appointment with Dr. Rommeich, and his demeanor was dismissive and openly hostile throughout. He repeatedly interrupted her while she tried to explain her symptoms, told her “Don’t talk to me yet,” and at one point told her to “shut up.”
During the lens comparison, when she reconsidered an answer, he responded sharply and at one point threw his hands up and said that this was all the magnification he had and asked what he was supposed to do about it. Rather than guiding her through the process, his tone was exasperated and confrontational.
He strongly emphasized that she had a large cataract, causing significant alarm, only to later say it was not urgent and to simply try a new prescription.
The interaction was so distressing that my mother became physically ill afterward. I informed him that she has a diagnosed anxiety disorder and asked if he could slow down and help put her at ease. He responded that he is who he is and would not change his approach.
The visit ended with him telling us to hurry up and leave because he had other patients to see.
This behavior was hostile and profoundly unprofessional. It was one of the most disrespectful medical encounters I have ever witnessed. Speaking to a patient this way is unacceptable in any clinical setting. I would not trust this provider with the care of a vulnerable family member.
It's shame because the rest of the staff are so great. I hope LensCrafters will do something about this.

The staff (especially Waldo) in your Spartenburg store were amazingly helpful and went above and beyond to help me find specific glasses I was looking for. Thank you Waldo!

Dr Mark is amazing! Not only does he make uninsured visits the cheapest possible, he is funny and makes the experience quick and easy! Would recommend 100%!
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
