⭐ To avoid at all costs. Bring your money elsewhere.
My wife has been a loyal client of Antoine Laoun for over 40 years, and I’ve personally worn glasses since the age of 3 — needless to say, we’ve been faithful and valuable customers for decades.
Recently, I decided to purchase a new pair of glasses at their Jean-Talon location, where I was warmly greeted by Bruna. She was friendly and confident, assuring me that Antoine Laoun offered better quality and service than large retailers like Costco. Trusting her words, I spent nearly $1,000 on a pair of glasses.
Unfortunately, what followed has been a series of ongoing frustrations. For the past few months, I have had to return almost every week for adjustments. Each visit is time-consuming, parking is limited, and frankly, it’s exhausting.
During my most recent visit, I expressed — politely and professionally — my dissatisfaction with the repeated issues. To my complete disbelief, their optician Sami Harb responded with shocking rudeness and arrogance. While I spoke calmly, he stood in front of me, pointing at me and speaking in a condescending tone. Nearby clients looked on in disbelief, and even his own colleagues seemed embarrassed by his behavior.
When I later asked the assistant manager for the gentleman’s name, he himself approached, wrote his full name (Sami Harb) on a piece of paper, and told me:
“If you’re not happy, don’t come back.”
That, in a nutshell, is Antoine Laoun Jean-Talon in 2025.
After four decades of loyalty and countless dollars spent, I can confidently say: take your business elsewhere. You’ll likely find better service, better professionalism — and perhaps even be offered a coffee for your trouble.

Excellent service Chez Laoun Jean-Talon. Conseils de Pro de la part de Sami, et un traitement administratif de première classe de Bruna, le tout dans la bonne humeur et avec fous rires. Une belle équipe qu’il me fera plaisir de retrouver. Paul
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
How do I know if my child needs glasses?
An eye exam by an optometrist is the best way to determine if your child needs glasses. Signs include sitting close to the TV, squinting, light sensitivity, and avoiding visual tasks like reading.
Is a contact lens exam different from a regular eye exam?
Yes, a contact lens exam includes detailed measurements for fitting lenses, and there is an additional fee. A comprehensive eye exam checks overall eye health and vision.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
Eye exams by optometrists detect vision and health issues comprehensively, while vision screenings are less thorough and may miss important problems.
Why should I get an annual eye exam?
Annual exams detect vision changes, eye health issues, and even general health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure early, allowing timely treatment.
