  We have had a difficult time with reliability and the quality of aides coming in to care for an elderly parent. The inconsistency and turnover of staffing has not been a positive experience. Aides have canceled at the last minute or even after a shift was supposed to start, leaving us in a position where there is no back up and no one to cover for care. A few aides have even been unpleasant, raising their voice, being unkind and impatient. I understand that this might be a tough role to find people to work, but we spend a lot of money to keep my parent at home as long as possible and I cannot express the frustration and turmoil this causes when this continually happens.

  From January 2014, when we brought my mother home from assisted living with help from a CCM, through March 2015, when my mother was committed to a nursing home following a sudden illness and a subsequent bout with c. diff, the North Hills Home Instead office consistently provided my mother with the caregiving support she needed to remain at home. Then, after the three months that it took her to recover from c. diff, the North Hills office arranged for the caregivers that my mother had come to know to be with her on a daily basis at the nursing home where she is now confined-- all three of whom treated my mother with respect and compassion. Having seen how a lack of continuity in caregiver support has impact others who have needed to assume responsibility for their parents has given me an appreciation for what Home Instead has provided for my mother. This office, moreover, has been very good about communicating with my brother and me with regards to exceptional events that have necessitated episodic changes in caregiving duties. Most recently, this included a follow-up to an unsuccessful attempt to intervene on our behalf, following the home's decision to deny access to all non-staff personnel, and a promise to resume care if (argh!) and when the prohibition on visitation is lifted. This pretty much sums it up, except for saying that my brother is also pleased with the service that Home Instead has offered.

  We began using Home Instead Senior Care in September 2019. My dad is in his late 80's and lives alone. I had been helping him over the years, but it was getting to be too much. They came in, did an assessment and matched him with a caregiver, who is still with him today. They help him with the everyday chores, cleaning, laundry, meals, errands and keep him company. They have added structure to his days and have given him a reason to get out of bed. I would highly recommend Home Instead to anyone looking for this type of service.

  This location and its staff deserve not only thanks for their service but for OUTSTANDING professionalism, caring and financial operations! Sharon was my 1st point of contact and she immediately handled the services needs for my elderly aunt faster than I thought possible. Serena gave me a complete overview of the work schedule for aides assisting my aunt so I always knew when and who would be providing care. The aides were wonderful ladies and even though it was a short-term service assignment while we worked on placement in a personal care facility, my aunt found a special friend in Ginny who was so thoughtful. On the last service day, when I was moving my aunt from her apartment into the new facility, Angie helped set up a "farewell" lunch when several neighbors showed up to say goodbye. It was so touching! If you have a loved one who needs special assistance, whether for short term like us, or a longer time, DO NOT hesitate to contact Home Instead. GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT PROFESSIONALS!!!
