My first visit was alright. The staff is very off putting. The place looks like it needs updating. The doctor totally ignored what I wanted but charged me for what he thought I should have which has been a disaster for my vision issue. This location states that it opens at 9am however they do not answer the phone at all. The receptionist's message on the answering service is quite curt. They do not answer the phone when you have problems with the product that you paid for. The most annoying part is not being able to get in contact with my doctor about my vision prescriptions. I have been calling the office since 9am for the last 48 minutes with no answer. I also requested something specific from the doctor which he completely ignored and now I cannot get in contact with the office. They do not even have a place to leave a phone message. 1-star for lack of courteousness, follow up, communication and not being able to reach my vision medical professional due to a prescription issue.

There is no one more knowledgeable about the eyes and thorough in his testing and treatment that I have come across than Dr. Ritchie. So much so that though I am about to move, I plan to continue returning to Philadelphia for my eye exams with him. I was pleasantly surprised when we discussed the impact of nutrition on eye health during our last appointment, as conventional medicine does not typically approach health holistically. Couldn’t recommend him more.

Unfortunately, I felt compelled to write this review that echoes the sentiment of many about the rudeness and disrespect of the receptionist and staff answering the phones. I have never written a review, but the level of rudeness needs to addressed. I called on three separate occasions. The first time the staff were unable to located my vision insurance benefit information. I followed up with a call to my insurance company and verified my benefits and called back. The staff was far from apologetic and was extremely curt and downright rude. I called to follow up regarding my order and was lectured for calling. I will not be using this location again and urge you to steer clear unless you desire to be treated like dirt. Sadly, it looks like this is a trend. In a depressed downtown area, it looks like this location will be closed soon. My husband remarked on the professionalism of the opticians there. I wish that would trickle down to the office staff.

Giving it 3 stars been coming here for years. Doctor is great, but them receptionist…I don’t know what their problem is. I called to just confirm what time was my appointment and I am always met with annoyance as if I did something to them because I was asking a question. I don’t know what their problem is, I could see if I was rude to them, but I’m very polite. I too work in customer service so I know how it can be handling the public and ignorant customers and such, some of them need a refresher course on customer service. Get it together!
