What am I allowed to bring?
SpiritLife provides a convenient list outlining what clients can and cannot bring into the facility. To ensure a safe, structured, and recovery‑focused environment, certain items are prohibited. This list is enforced at the discretion of SpiritLife staff, and additional items may be confiscated if they are considered detrimental to recovery.
Miscellaneous prohibited items include all bags and containers such as wallets, purses, small bags, backpacks, cups, mugs, and any liquid containers. Reading and creative materials are limited to one spiritual book, one recovery book, and one new coloring or puzzle book. Art supplies are restricted to sealed crayons or colored pencils only. Tarot cards and any other spiritual or occult items are not permitted.
Personal linens and comfort items are prohibited, including bedding, towels, blankets, and personal laundry supplies such as detergents, fabric softeners, laundry pods, and dryer sheets. Clothing restrictions apply to any apparel that promotes drugs, alcohol, or nudity. All clothing must be non‑revealing, cover the shoulders, and be free of large rips or see‑through material.
Food and beverage restrictions prohibit drink mixes such as Crystal Light or Mio, chocolate, soft candies including gummies and gum, protein bars or shakes, and all other supplements. The only permitted food items are hard candies.
Games and gambling items are limited, with all card games prohibited. SpiritLife provides approved games such as dominoes and board games. High‑value items, including jewelry and excess cash, are not allowed. Clients may carry no more than $20, and any additional money will be stored securely.
Electronic and media devices are prohibited, including radios, CD players, iPods, alarm clocks with radios, and any device with media capabilities. Electronic reading devices such as Kindles and iPads are not allowed, nor are laptops, tablets, smartwatches, video games or consoles, cameras, cell phones, or phone chargers. Personal care electronics such as electric toothbrushes and other battery‑operated items are prohibited, with the exception of labeled personal fans. Medical equipment, including CPAP machines, may be accepted on a case‑by‑case basis at admission.
Personal care and hygiene products are restricted. Cosmetics are limited to five items, must not include loose powders or broken items, and will be labeled upon admission. Wigs are not permitted unless they are new and sealed. Hair straighteners, curling irons, hair dyes, perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, body sprays, nail polish, nail polish remover, and all nail‑related products are prohibited.
Aerosol sprays of any kind are not allowed, including aerosol deodorants and spray cosmetics.
Tobacco policies prohibit all opened tobacco products such as chew or snuff, cigars, tubes, loose tobacco, and pre‑rolled cigarettes. Clients may bring only one sealed bag of tobacco or one carton containing ten packs of sealed cigarettes. All vaping products, including vaporizers, vapes, and electronic cigarettes, are strictly prohibited. Alcohol‑containing products such as mouthwash, hand sanitizers, and wipes with alcohol content are also not allowed.
Weapons and narcotics are strictly prohibited. This includes knives, sharp objects, firearms, or any item that could pose a physical threat. Narcotics of any kind—powders, liquids, or pills—are not permitted. Unauthorized medications are prohibited, including over‑the‑counter items such as ibuprofen, aspirin, melatonin, and similar products, unless approved and administered by the SpiritLife medical team.
