- RTRobert TuliniFeb 15, 20261.0My son's wheelchair needs work and they tell him his parts are in. But they always cancel his appointment because they claim they only come down to this area once a month and they cancel his appointment without telling him. The customer service people are rude and claim they thought he was coming there to have chair repaired. We live over an hour and a half from there. He is considering a new vendor. You should be ashamed of your businees ethics.

Today, they say 2 wks before someone can come to fix it. I have no balance and am dependent on the wheelchair. Am I supposed to stay in bed and not move for two weeks? This is horrible treatment and it’s also Christmas. Are you dependent on a wheelchair? How would you like a family member to be treated like this? Im taking this to the top. Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
