My family has been working with Home Instead for about 6 months. Our family member has dementia. Her needs are increasing weekly. The young women that work with her are wonderful! Honestly, the office staff is amazing and the workers are kind, knowledgeable, and empathetic. I have never had a complaint.

A home health care worker is harassing me and I'm disabled so I contacted her job and let them know what kind of person they hired and the manager told me what she does on her free time has nothing to do with how their job looks and I said it most certainly does because you have a healthcare worker employed with your company and you see nothing wrong with them harassing a disabled person. I'd be very worried to put my disabled or any relatives under their care considering how they don't mind their workers harassing disabled people!!! Can't imagine if that's off the job what could be happening in there to the other disabled people they "take care of". Healthcare workers are expected to uphold a high standard of care and compassion, and harassment of any kind is unacceptable. Bullying or harassing a disabled neighbor is particularly egregious, as people with disabilities may already face unique challenges and barriers.
If you or someone you know is experiencing harassment or discrimination, there are resources available to help. The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF) is a great place to start, and the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) can also provide support and guidance.
Remember, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and any workplace like this needs to be reported!!!
Our service minimums are 12 hours/week and 4 hours per shift. We can provide care up to 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Do you provide transportation? Do you charge for mileage if you provide transportation to appointments?

What are non-medical home care services?
We provide a non-medical level of home care services that typically revolve around assisting seniors with activities of daily (bathing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, continence, transferring) and instrumental activities of daily living (preparing meals, light housekeeping, laundry, errands, medication reminders). These services help seniors to remain in the home with the appropriate level of care in ADL and IDL areas in which they need assistance. Our Care Professionals provide the care with offering support and encouragement, helping seniors to stay at home as independent as possible.
What services don’t you provide?

Are any of your services covered by Medicare or similar insurance programs?
As our services are non-medical in nature, they are not covered by health insurance or Medicare. Mostly, our services are private pay. We do coordinate with some Veterans aid programs and long-term care insurance when the client is eligible for such coverage.
Do you offer service at night or overnight? What kind of service?
We provide overnight care services in which a client needs assistance during the night and when a client just wants someone to be in the home for peace of mind. Depending on client needs, an overnight shift can be 8pm to 8am or 10/11pm to 7/8am. Care Pros will be informed if the client needs to have hands-on care during the overnight hours (such as assistance with toileting) or if they are there for safety and security.
How much notice do you need to start service?
Before services can begin, we must conduct a care consultation. After the care consultation is complete, it is a case-by-case basis to determination how quickly we can start. Our goal is to start as soon as possible, but in some situations, it may take one to two weeks.
Are your services covered by long-term care insurance?
Depending on the policy and the long-term care insurance company’s claim eligibility, services may be covered. If you have your long-term care insurance policy available, we can help you determine your eligibility.
Do you require a service deposit?
We require a two-week service deposit prior to the start of services. The deposit is held until the end of services and applied to the final invoice.
Can I change the schedule after starting services?
Yes, changes can be made to the schedule. Please advise the office of scheduling changes with as much notice as possible to help with the accommodation of these changes. We will do our best to accommodate changes as quickly as possible based on staffing availability.
