My husband and I went to RMA Fertility Clinic for a second opinion, hoping for guidance and answers, and instead felt lectured and judged. From the moment we arrived, we were bombarded about our lifestyle choices in a way that felt condescending and dismissive. Dr. Gueye spoke to us like we were five years old, asking us things like what we thought would be the “most effective” way to lose weight, and having us answer, rather than having a professional conversation about our situation. It felt like a lecture more than an actual professional conversation with two highly-educated and professional individuals, mind you.
On top of that, the doctor refused to provide us progesterone, something our labs proved we were lacking in to support a pregnancy, unless we gave her proof of a lifestyle change, which felt unnecessary and paternalistic, especially given that we have already had three pregnancies, all ending in loss. We came in hoping to get clarity and support and instead left feeling belittled.
We left the clinic frustrated, upset, and unheard. The experience was dismissive, condescending, and completely lacking in empathy. Fertility care is supposed to provide guidance and hope, not make patients feel belittled and shamed during one of the hardest moments of their lives. We are deeply unhappy with the way we were treated and would not recommend this clinic. We will not be returning, and heed this review as a warning to any couple looking for compassionate and professional fertility care to go somewhere, literally anywhere else.
