If I could give ZERO stars I would. The customer service is rotten. I was asked to give my social Security number and I shared that I would not provide as I have been a victim of identity theft on three occasions, including having a false unemployment claim filed in my name a few months ago (2021). I had already submitted my insurance card and drivers license and other information requested. I was told if I didn’t give the number I would be rescheduled or worse, I would not be seen by the doctor. So, I asked for my papers and left. After I had calmed down from the curt conversation, I called to give feedback. I was transferred and while speaking with the department manager she began to yell, talk over me and when I said hey I was speaking- let me speak as the customer, she yelled louder and announced that she was putting the phone down. She hung up on me! Was this service because of assumptions about me because of the color of my skin? Assumptions about my SES? Hmmm- I, a terminal degree holding articulate female of color, think this small minded ignorant unprofessional person will surely diminish the practice and reduce the number of patients who seek care from them. My review- STAY AWAY!

I think Dr. Defeo has practiced medicine so long he has forgotten that patients need information for their questions. So often he says, "Oh that's a long story" and doesn't answer the question. He tends to really downplay the pain/discomfort/ need for walker or canes after surgery. He once gave me a shot and when I asked what was in the shot (I only knew it was maybe a cortisone and he didn't tell me even that) HE would not tell me exactly what he was injecting into my foot. I WANT TO KNOW what's going into my body. I believe he is a WONDERFUL SURGEON and does wonderful work but I also feel he needs to answer questions and really listen and answer his patients even if we have no medical background.
