About

Spine Surgery
At Northwest Spine Surgery, our providers have a combined experience of over 100 years! We specialize in the surgical treatment of disorders of the spine. This may be either degenerative in nature (the typical wear and tear of our spine with aging and activity) or it may be a traumatic injury (such as a work injury or motor vehicle collision). Unless progressive loss of function or severe pain requires a more rapid operative intervention, we take care to pursue conservative measures to the fullest extent before recommending surgery.

My experience with Dr. Khoo at NW Spine was disappointing. During my first appointment, he discussed certain treatment options with me, but the report that was later sent to my insurance did not accurately reflect that conversation or what I had requested. When I raised the discrepancy, I was asked to come back for another visit. At that appointment, the explanation given was that my symptoms may have been misinterpreted. The change in tone and documentation left me feeling uneasy about the consistency and accuracy of my care. Because of that experience, I would recommend asking detailed questions and carefully reviewing any reports sent to your insurance.

I have had great things happening letting Northwest Spine Surgery work on me after losing feeling in my feet, hands, and other areas of my body. After being involved in a rear end accident on the hwy. I had lost movement and was facing possible loss of mobility. Dr.Khoo did some amazing work and I regained feeling and most importantly hope for life. The entire staff is great to work with and definitely have your best interests at heart. Highly recommend letting them help with your spine problems.

I had a truly awful experience with Dr. Ball and his office. Originally starting at Northwest Spine Surgery then moving to Rose city Spine Surgery. He was incredibly rude during my appointments, often just staring at me in silence as if waiting for me to say something. I was there to understand the next steps in my treatment and how my back injury was progressing, but he never provided clear answers. One of the most troubling experiences was with a myelogram procedure. Dr. Ball told me it would be a simple X-ray with contrast, something I had done before. However, what I actually underwent was far more invasive, including a needle in my spinal cord, which resulted in a CSF leak. I ended up in the ER unable to walk or move. When I brought this up to him, he blamed me for the situation, claiming that he had warned me about the risks. But he had never prepared me for what actually occurred. He also seemed baffled that I was referred to a different doctor for the procedure, as he usually performs it on his patients. I underwent multiple procedures, none of which helped, and I was continuously charged hundreds of dollars for being "seen" without receiving any useful information or care. My last appointment was particularly frustrating. Dr. Ball didn't explain anything about my back injury or what the next steps should be. To make matters worse, I recently received a bill for nearly $700 for that visit, despite not receiving any real care. Dr. Ball and Rose City Spinal Surgery are a scam. Their office staff is unhelpful and takes months to respond—if they respond at all. I would never recommend this practice to anyone, not even my worst enemy.
