I’ve always hated exercising, full stop. To this day, whenever my so-called “friends” invite me to join them for a “workout” or whatever, I reevaluate our entire friendship & block them from ever contacting me again. As an elder millennial, who often sustains injuries by simply existing after the age 40, exercising is dangerous & our healthcare system is not equipped for populations of a certain age to be taking such risks. It will literally collapse. So, in summary, exercise sucks… with the exception of Pilates & here is why you should join Club Pilates, like, yesterday: 1. It’s indoors. As a California transplant living in the PNW, Portland weather can be gross & my body considers anything below 70 degrees a literal blizzard. Plus, bugs are outside & I hate those. I appreciate that Club Pilates is indoors & therefore offers me protection from nature (ew). 2. Reformer machines. Have you ever done Pilates on one of these things?! YOU GET TO LIE DOWN. I love lying down. But you know what I love even more? Lying down while making my body hotter & stronger. And as a bonus, the reformer machines are super fun & easy to use. 3. The instructors. All of them are great, but my favorites are Lori & Brooke. Their classes are challenging (without feeling like you’re going to drop dead mid-supine arms) & keep things not boring by changing up the routines each week. And if you choose not try a progression, they don’t put you in a massive spiral of shame if you’re just not feelin’ it that day, & I think that’s just beautiful. 4. The environment. It’s inclusive, supportive, gentle & fun. The instructors, front desk personnel, & other Club Pilates besties are just nice humans. This goes a long way for an anxious, self-deprecating, noob like me. I genuinely enjoy going to this studio… ME. An avid exercise H.A.T.E.R. Club Pilates, thank you for being the exception to my exercise-loathing existence. :-)

First class back after a hip replacement. Michelle was fantastic. Her queuing was fabulous and she checked in on me a few times to make sure I was doing OK. I love her attention to detail and how she checked in with every single person in the class.
