My son went in for a retainer check. He said the ortho doctor looked at his teeth for about 10 seconds and then sent him on his way. Mind you we have been waiting for gental dental to get a ortho doctor for about 4 month.

Great place! The dentist and dental assistants all took great care of my kid; fun and comfortable environment for kids. They took the time to explain everything in detail and I never felt rushed. We got moved over here since our insurance coverage changed, and I'm very happy for the unexpected change!
Frequently Asked Questions About Gentle Dental Kids Keizer
What age should my child first visit the dentist?
Establishing good dental habits from an early age is essential for your child's overall health and development. We recommend scheduling your child's first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth erupts.
How often should my child see the dentist?
Children should visit the dentist every six months for routine cleanings and checkups to monitor their oral health and development.
Do you accept new patients?
Yes! We are always happy to welcome new patients. Contact us to schedule your child’s first appointment.
What happens during my child’s first dental visit?
From the moment you step into our kid-friendly office, you'll be greeted by a team of experts who truly understand the unique needs and concerns of caring for childrens’ smiles. Once it's time for their visit, our pediatric dental team goes above and beyond to create a positive experience. From gentle chairside manners to age-appropriate language, we play to your child’s curiosity and help them learn about oral health. Our expertly trained staff will guide your child through their dental treatment with patience and compassion, taking the time to explain each step, answer any questions, and ensure your child feels safe and comfortable throughout their entire visit.
Do you offer fluoride treatments for children?
Fluoride treatments help strengthen and remineralize tooth enamel, making it more resistant to acid attacks that can cause cavities. They provide an extra layer of protection for developing teeth.
Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Yes, dental X-rays are safe and essential for monitoring your child's oral health and development. They use minimal radiation and follow strict guidelines to ensure safety.
Do you offer sedation or laughing gas for nervous children?
Yes, we offer laughing gas to help children feel more relaxed during their dental visit. More advanced sedation options can be discussed with our dentist. Our goal is to ensure your child’s comfort and provide the best care for their specific needs.
What are dental sealants, and does my child need them?
Dental sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of permanent back teeth to prevent cavities and decay. They act as a barrier against food particles and bacteria, protecting the vulnerable grooves and pits.
When should my child start brushing and flossing?
Start good oral health habits as soon as their first tooth appears and begin flossing as soon as two teeth touch which is typically around ages 2-3.
How can I help my child prevent cavities?
Ensure your child brushes twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flosses daily to remove plaque and food particles, limit sugary snacks and drinks, and schedule routine dental visits for cleanings and exams.
What should I do if my child has a toothache?
Start by looking inside your child's mouth to assess where the pain is. Then, gently clean the area around the affected tooth and have them rinse with warm water to remove any debris. If needed, offer children's pain relievers (following the dosage instructions). If the pain persists, worsens, or is accompanied by swelling or fever, contact our office as soon as possible so our pediatric dental team can evaluate the issue and provide the best treatment.
What should I do if my child knocks out a tooth?
If your child knocks out a tooth, contact our office immediately—acting quickly can make a big difference. Our team is here to help and will guide you on the best next steps for your child’s care.
