- LALynne Archibald2 days ago5.0With 3 elderly relatives, all with different and evolving needs, I have used Home Instead in Toronto and Markham and have had excellent experiences. This was my first experience with the North York franchise and it was equally positive and involved a very swift and professional response from them. Home Instead is not an inexpensive option but the service and their staff are worth it. When our relative was about to be discharged after 8 hours in emergency at NYGH, we were hesitant to overburden the regular staff at the dementia care home, and also felt that close monitoring would be wise for at least 48 hours in case we needed to go back to ER. Kelvin and his team know the care home well and its nursing staff and in less than 4 hours, Home Instead had a PSW there with our relative. We booked 4 shifts which turned out to be perfect and we were very grateful for the very helpful end of shift reports every 12 hours which allowed us to accompany the recovery.
