I had a fantastic experience getting my prescription eyeglasses at Specsavers Sherway Gardens. From start to finish, the process was seamless. A special thank you to the associate who assisted us—they were incredibly detail-oriented and attentive to every one of my needs. What really stood out was their patience; we had our toddler with us during one of the visits, and the staff made us feel completely welcome rather than rushed. The entire team is polite, and the store has such a warm, inviting vibe. This location has officially earned our trust, and we’ll definitely be returning for all our future eyewear needs!

I attended the Specsavers location today at approximately 11:15 a.m. to pick up my glasses, which I had been told were ready. This visit followed multiple previous errors on Specsavers’ part, which already required me to return to the store several times to correct issues that should have been handled properly from the start. Upon arrival, I stood patiently waiting at the counter for approximately ten minutes while a staff member assisted another client. During that entire time, I was not acknowledged in any way no greeting, no indication of how long the wait would be, and no reassurance that I would be assisted shortly. I found this lack of basic customer courtesy concerning. There was nobody there to help. When I finally asked, “Excuse me, how much longer will this wait be?” I was curtly told, “You’re just going to have to wait.” The dismissive tone and lack of professionalism were inappropriate. Shortly thereafter, a male staff member wearing black nail polish came from the back who called himself the owner of the store approached me in a very aggressive manner, pointed directly in my face, and repeatedly instructed me to “have a seat” in a confrontational tone. He then accused me of having “nothing but an attitude since day one,” which is categorically untrue. I was understandably frustrated due to repeated mistakes made by Specsavers that required me to take additional time out of my schedule to visit that location with nothing but mistake after mistake and no productive outcomes, I was not rude or aggressive at any point but expressed my disappointment with all the mistakes. I just wanted to pick up my glasses and he told me it was the law that he could not hand over my glasses but I had to sit down and wait (again) I went to Specsavers today simply to pick up my glasses, which were already made and ready and he refused to give them to me, stating it was “the law” that he could not release my glasses otherwise unless I sat waited and had an employee sit and give them to me through some type of a consultation. This explanation was misleading and frustrating. because there is no law that requires a customer to sit through a consultation or explanation if they do not want one. He could have at that moment kindly handed them over to me and let me be on my way but he refused. The interaction felt unnecessary, inflexible, and poorly communicated. I was not asking for anything unreasonable just to pick up my glasses. Clear and honest communication would have avoided this entirely but he wanted conflict. The behavior of this staff member was alarming. He raised his voice, pointed at me, and spoke to me in a way I have never experienced in a retail or medical setting. His conduct was so aggressive and catty that it made me feel genuinely unsafe and intimidated. No customer should ever be made to feel fearful, humiliated, or verbally attacked in this manner. I would recommend looking at the camera footage if you have any to see the interaction. As a result of this deeply unprofessional and inhumane treatment, I no longer wish to receive my glasses from Specsavers. You may keep them or throw them in the garbage. I do not intend to return to this location or do business with Specsavers EVER. This was, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had, and I believe it warrants serious review and corrective action.

To start on a positive note, the optometrist I saw was a lovely lady very kind, patient, and professional. The staff overall were polite, which I genuinely appreciate. Unfortunately, the issues began once I received my prescription glasses. I could not see through them at all. I wasn’t able to read prices in stores or see clearly in everyday situations. The glasses were sent back to be corrected to my original prescription I had for 3 years but even after the adjustment because of the progressive lens, I still can’t see properly. With the second pair, the problem appears to be how my face and lenses were measured. I can only see clearly if I lift the glasses very high up on my nose and physically hold them there with my finger. This obviously isn’t practical and indicates that the prescription or fitting is still incorrect so instead of dealing with the situation again I will just throw them in the garbage. I am currently waiting for another pair, so I can’t comment on those yet. In addition to the vision issues, there were several administrative mistakes. I was called by the wrong name, my phone number on file was incorrect, and these details had to be corrected after the fact. Overall, it felt like one mistake after another. I also noticed a shift in attitude after I brought these concerns to their attention. While the staff were initially friendly, their demeanor changed noticeably once I expressed that I wasn’t happy with the glasses. I want to be clear that raising these issues is not something I enjoy doing I would much prefer a smooth experience where everything works properly the first time and o also had to go back for another checkup which was 1 hour and a waste of my time. At the end of the day, while I appreciate the kindness of the optometrist and the general politeness of the staff, the repeated errors and unresolved issues with my prescription have left me disappointed. Once I receive my prescription, I don’t see myself returning. I will definitely be going to another company to get my proper updated prescription.
