The more I thought about my appointment the more disappointed I was. I went to a women’s health center because I wanted more personal care for fluctuating hormones in my late 30s. The people who mentioned how she isn’t “plus sized friendly” are not wrong. I do feel like she hinted about my symptoms (which she barely asked about) were related to weight and lifestyle, which is wild of her to assume since she knew nothing about me. I am somewhat overweight, but nowhere near obese or unhealthy. I have no major health issues and simply wanted to have a consult to see if I could go through insurance instead of an online specialist I’d been using. Dr. Cunningham told me to STOP the topical treatment for HRT I was prescribed through an online specialist that has been working wonders for me, because she was worried about the risk of blood clots. However, topical transdermal estrogen does not raise this risk of clots, only oral would as it has to bypass the liver. I don’t know if she didn’t know this or what… but that’s concerning. I even asked about patches because she said insurance wouldn’t cover the bio-cream. She basically wrote me off, did not provide personalized care, did not ask me about my personal symptoms, and did not listen. Soooo frustrating because I’ve been to multiple docs and never feel heard. Shame on these people for getting into the medical field then losing their passion and making their patients suffer for it. Wish I’d have seen these reviews before I went. What a waste of a $50 copay. Guess I’m still on the hunt for a doctor who CARES and treats based on symptoms and doesn’t treat you like a number. Ladies, if you’re thinking of coming to this doctor for hormone therapy, DONT. Maybe the other doctors are better, and the front staff was great (as was the nurse who helped me prior to seeing the doctor), but Dr.C simply doesn’t seem to care enough to provide personalized care.

She was a great OB and never made me feel uncomfortable during appointments, she is really sweet and welcoming. I see reviews saying she shamed them over weight and personally that was not my experience with her. I gained like 85lbs while pregnant and she never once commented on it. I ended up needing to have a C section and she did a great job on that as well. Overall I had a good experience with her as my doctor and would use her again if I have insurance to do so.

(Just gonna preface this with the fact that she is NOT plus sized friendly at all and I had to learn that the hard way by her basically fat shaming me the entire visit. This review is kind of long so bear with me please.) My experience with my first (and most likely only) visit with her was not very good at all. The fact of the matter is my friend highly recommended her due to her experience with her being extremely positive. But I guess Dr Cunningham is only listens to people that are of an “ideal” weight. Not anyone plus sized. Since all of my concerns that I brought up at the appointment (including severe menstrual pain and heavy bleeding with multiple women family having histories of severe Endometriosis and instances of cervical cancer on both side of my family) all of which she blamed on me being overweight. The fact that right from the moment she met me she continued to bring up my weight and tell me to try weight watchers for some reason. I’m sorry but, umm where does it say she’s a liscenced Dietitian? I understand mentioning my weight once at the beginning, but no it is like that was all she could focus on for the entirety of my appointment. And I guess apparently all of my concerns can be tied to my weight. When I’ve been having all these issues since I weighed below 120lb so idk why she seemed to feel the need to fat shame me. She even went so far as to ASSUME I was taking weight loss pills for some reason and told me that those won’t work because I need to actually be active and trying to lose weight. I haven’t been on weight loss drugs at all recently because I know they don’t work for me. I guess I should have listened to the one star review from 4 years ago saying that she is not Plus sized friendly. Because she definitely still isn’t friendly to plus sized women and made me feel so horrible about myself. Like where does she get the idea that it’s okay to basically fat shame someone to the point of tears when all they came in to be seen for is to try and find out if they have endometriosis or any other issues wrong with their reproductive organs?

I have always received incredible care from Dr. Cunningham and her staff. She helped me through a really hard pregnancy and was an incredible doctor when it came time to deliver. I always recommend her to my friends and family very highly. We love Dr. Cunningham!
