After a laparoscopic partial Nissan fund?….. surgery, I was kept overnight for observation. The Nurses were so patient with me, so kind and helped me thru those first critical hours. The staff were courteous and giving. I wasn’t my best self, but they were so gracious. Overlooking the pain talking. I have nothing but gratitude for them and Dr, Ruff and the floor doc sorry your name escapes me. Now to heal, recover and get back my “normal” which will be better now. Thank you, praise The Lord Jesus for sending my angels to guide and watch over all of us, amen and amen.

It was the worst experience I’ve had ever had at SSM, the NP stayed every bit of 10 minutes ask if she was going to address my abdominal pain she didn’t examine it or anything. I asked for pain relief and instead she came and lied and said all my labs , blood drawn and chest X-ray was fine. Which on my chart it stated I have a UTI. My nurse Lacy stuck my 4 times trying to get a IV and then avoided me for the rest of my stay left iv med in the room for about an hour or so before she realized that she didn’t administer it, I wasn’t even given my call light, just left to suffer and then released as if I wasn’t even Human and I would like a follow up to this complaint, I was in so much pain I couldn’t even sleep until 7 am

I got to the ER around 1a on 3/10. There was no other patients at the lobby but me. I was vomiting and in excruciating pain, due to a kidney stone. Although not unkind, the receptionist didn’t seem to be moved. I know they see people in pain all the time, so I guess I was just the ‘next’ one . It took at least 30 min - if not more- for me to be taken in —AND another 30+ minutes to be given any pain medication!!! I know they were busy with other emergencies, but did I mention I WAS IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN? The reason I do not rate it less It’s because the doctors (when they finally came ) and nurses (with exception of one nurse tech) were very kind. Nurse Meagan took great care of me and worked diligently to get me a room for admission at the hospital for surgery next day before shift change. I talked to another friend who went to another ER with same issue recently and she was given pain meds within minutes after arrival ! I do not believe I’d return there if need urgent again .

I was visiting from out of state on vacation while experiencing severe pain. I tried really hard to push through it because not only am I traveling with several littles, I am also traveling with my parents and siblings that I barely get to see. I didn’t want to spend my vacation in the ER, but it got to the point where I couldn’t handle it anymore. I had the worst headache I’ve ever had and half of my face was numb. I spent most of my trip in the hotel room trying to sleep, and when I would get out and try to spend time with family, I couldn’t bare it. We went to the zoo and waterpark and I was crying and couldn’t even sit with my family. I finally decided to go to the ER hoping someone could help or at least give me some answers. The first person I saw when I walked in was security, and she greeted me with a smile and kindly showed me exactly where I needed to go. The woman at registration was also very nice. I didn’t wait very long at all. Once I was taken back, everyone I interacted with was amazing. My nurse, the techs, lab staff, and radiology were all kind, patient, and they actually listened to me. They didn’t have any unnecessary conversations, they all did their jobs and communicated with me. The doctor also came in pretty quickly and he was incredibly thorough and understanding. He took the time to explain everything to me, which in a weird way, helped ease my anxiety and made the pain a tiny less worse. (Maybe this was placebo) but just having someone explain what was going on and answer my questions made the situation feel a lot less overwhelming and helped with my overthinking. My parents arrived towards the end of my visit. The doctor stayed in the room and patiently explained everything to them and answered all of their questions. He never made us feel rushed and made sure we all understood what was going on. Also, despite some of the reviews I read beforehand, the hospital was perfectly comfortable. It was a little cold like most hospitals are, but my nurse brought me blankets and made sure I was comfortable. I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had as a patient. I’ve dealt with several health issues growing up and have been to a lot of hospitals, and usually there’s at least one part of the experience/a unit that feels lacking. That wasn’t the case here. Everyone I encountered was compassionate and professional. I’m incredibly thankful for the care I received. I was able to get answers, medication, and for the first time during my trip I was finally able to sleep without waking up from the pain. I’m very grateful for the team that took care of me. I was able to go down and eat breakfast with my family, I wasn’t able to do this the whole trip, and I was able to take the kids to the waterpark this morning for a little bit before my pain kicked back in (normal for my diagnosis). I’m very thankful I got to enjoy the last day of my vacation with my family, it means a lot since I don’t see them much, thank you.
